Dan Heng opened his eyes and he sighed as he sat on the comfy bed he was laid on. He noticed Layla sitting on a chair next to his bed, focus on knitting a something as the last warm rays of the sunset's sun were keeping the atmosphere warm.

"Oh here, how do you feel, your Highness?" Layla asked as she put the kit down to get a little bowl with inside probably some medicines "Here, the doctor visited and made sure to give you the best medicine" she smiled as Dan Heng's blue eyes were looking lost

"How... This is your manor..?"

"Yes! You're on second floor of our humble manor, we knew you were coming so of course I made sure to prepare a befitting chamber, I hope you like it, your Highness" she said as Dan Heng was silently getting the medicine and for a moment he looked at the bowl

Father told me you will feel better, trust me!

Dan Heng's hands for a moment did tremble. Layla tilted her head and suddendly she stand up to hold his hand to avoid to spill the liquid inside the bowl "It's alright, probably your body is really restless" Layla spoke thinking the Crown Prince was simply too exhausted to even hold the medicine.

But truly Dan Heng's mind for a moment threw him back to his past, when he was ill and the only one who would take care of him was his little brother.

Who poisoned him little by little, and only one of the generals of the Royal Guards managed to discover it.

Soon Dan Heng discovered his little brother was indeed trying to poison him, the Royal guards that time hadn't yet the orders to treat the little brother like the real crown prince as everyone in the guards quarter knew the real Dan Heng.

In the end the general of the Royal guard, without making anyone see nor notice or talk about it, killed the royal doctor who was bought with gems by the little brother.

The Palace is a terrible... place.

Maybe this time I do have the joy to be pleased with some warmth before my last departure

Dan Heng smiled a little as he was letting Layla sitting next to him to help him drink the medicine.

"Thank you, Lady Layla" Dan Heng said and the woman smiled warmly, making him feel weirdly at ease even though he was theorically in the manor of the family his father feared the most and somehow wanted to plan to take down because of their grasp of the Empire's military power "Did I pass out again?" he asked embarassed

"Yes, but it's totally understandble, my son carried you till your bed, but fret not! I made sure he wouldn't lay not a finger more on your body, your Highness! I get you might have felt ashamed to know that, but my son is well behaved, he would neve.."

"Doesn't matter if he did since the first night he ripped my clothes" Dan Heng said as he reached for the glass of water near the night table. He did flinch when he noticed Blade's mother smile but definitely froze on spot "Lady Layla?"

"... BLADE!" she shouted and in that moment a maid came running "Rose! Where is that pig?!" she shouted with her eyes replaced by two flames under Dan Heng amused stare "He will forget he has balls and dick, TELL ME" she then coughed a little and smile warmly at the Crown Prince "This is Rose, she was my son's personal maid"

Rose flinched and looked at Layla "Was?"

"He will be put to sleep for the next month."

Dan Heng stand up from bed and sighed a little "It's fine, please Lady Layla, he thought I was the enemy and just did what he wanted to do"

"What he wanted to do..." Layla repeated feeling not even a little better by those words. She clenched her hands into fists to then show the most fake innocent smile to a clueless Dan Heng "Right... But why are you standing up, your Highness? Please, rest"
