"You're ugly!" Missy spat, kicking Riley one last time in the thighs.

Her back was pressed against the lockers, and her body was weak and numb from all the kicking, and punching.

"I hate your hair, you gay piece of crap!" Zay yanked her hair, before throwing her to the floor once again.

"And you must've broken the scale at home, because you're so fat!" Lucas yelled, before breaking into a loud cackle.

The crowd of people walked away, leaving me to stand there watching her.

"Ri-"

"Shut up" Riley coughed, and slowly moved herself into a more comfortable position. She laid on the ground, pulling her knees up to her chest. She started to cry, and I decided to just run away.

I ran after Lucas. I reached forward and grabbed his wrist, turning him around to face me.

"How could you?" I spat, "You hurt Riley, why!?" tears were forming in my eyes.

"She doesn't deserve to live" he chuckled, "I hope she knows how worthless she is"

I loosened my grip on his wrist, and I watched as he strutted away, proudly? as if he did nothing horrible to hurt Riley.

Or me.

"Riles, I am so sorr-" I threw my bag to the floor, as I walked into the house. I found Riley sitting on the couch, with Topanga's book held out in her hands, and her eyes filled with tears, "Oh, baby what's wrong?" I took a seat beside her.

"M-mom and Au-Auggie" she stuttered taking a deep breath in, "th-th-they're alive"
