"reo-kun, i've been watching you practice football lately and you're really amazing, aren't you?"

"hmm? oh, thanks."

"so, u-um... i was wondering if we could hang out..."

"ah... sorry. i got ball practice today so i can't."

i stared at reo as he rejected another girl. probably the second this month, but definitely not the last.

it is unusual for him to reject them in this manner though, because usually when they're offering something innocent and more "platonic" he doesn't mind tagging along. like the girl he tutored the other week... but now that football is occupying his schedule, the girls crushing on him have been dejected by his lack of interest in them.

i can't say that anything has changed for me though, because i've never gathered the courage to start a conversation with him before. i'm afraid he'll reject me or think i'm weird. i think i'm fine with watching him from afar anyways.

i sighed, turning back to my notebook to find a drawing of the landscape staring back at me. i shut my notebook before leaving to my class. it should be starting soon.

"PASS!! REO!!"

"WATCH OUT!!! DEFEND THE GOAL!!"

"C'MON! FUCK! THAT WAS REALLY CLOSE..!"

i stared at the players with wide eyes. they were really amazing.

i was currently peeking at the players from the fence. it was a bit far, but i never dared to enter the field and watch them closer up like the other girls- i'm not really that brave... it's a bit unusual today though, since reo's favourite friend isn't here. i'm surprised that he isn't ripping through the entire school to find him and drag him back to practice like he usually does.

i don't share all of my classes with reo since he studies a couple advanced courses but it's not uncommon to see him breaking into our class right when the lesson ends to drag his friend away. it's a rather funny sight, even the teacher finds it entertaining hence him allowing them.

it's a bit of a surprise that someone like nagi and reo became friends. they're like polar opposites.

i was able to convince reo to let me join practice a bit later with a promise of trying harder this time so i spent the majority of the little time i had on me playing video games in an empty stairway of the school. school was more tiring than usual today so i just had to take a little time for myself...

spending all this free time in football has made me realize how much reo's altered my life, for the best or for the worst i cannot decide. usually by now, i'd have gone home and ate something then completed a couple missions in ___. the double exp event this month is going to waste now... sigh.

i ran a hand through my white hair and turned my phone off before lazily putting it in my back pocket. i'd have to catch up now or reo'll have my neck...

tiredly and lazily, i strolled through the hallways of the school and towards the field. i'd have to at least show reo that i haven't ditched practice then i'll change outta my uniform if i feel like it.

on my way there, i noticed a small figure that seemed to be peeking at my friends from the fence entrance. i rubbed my neck in confusion, but it was quickly cleared up when i realized that it was a girl.

i narrowed my eyes at her when i got closer. she looks weirdly familiar from the back...

oh yeah. she's the short and quiet girl from my class. i think.

i tilted my head at her. she doesn't seem to have noticed me sneaking up on her. i turned my attention to the field and there was reo playing with isagi and bachira. chigiri was sitting on the benches as usual, watching the two and probably waiting for me.

"hey." i spoke, making her jump in surprise. i watched in amusement as she turned around and raised her head to match my gaze. with tired eyes, i looked at reo and then at her. i could tell that she was very startled upon being caught spying on my friends.

"if you wanna watch you should go in the field. we have some benches you can sit on..." i began, before moving to enter the field.

"i-im sorry... i didn't mean to spy... i was just... here...to..." she stuttered, taking a couple steps backwards.

i leaned on the fence and stared at reo.

"aah, i get it. you're here to watch reo, huh? you don't wanna be caught i bet." i hummed, and i could almost imagine her flinching at my accusation. i'm probably right. it's not unusual for girls to come here just to admire reo. he's a popular guy after all. must be tiring...

i cocked my head back to her, making my soft hair fall against my face but i was too lazy to move it out of the way. instead i said, "you should give up on him to save yourself the heartbreak."

"i-i don't know what you're talking about!" she stuttered, shaking her head. i could see her ears peeking through her slightly messy hair turning redder by the second and i would've given a lighthearted chuckle had it not been obvious how anxious this conversation made her. i wouldn't wanna make it worse then appear like some asshole...

whatever, i advised her so it's none of my business. i shrugged and hopped over the little step before entering the field.

"suit yourself, then." i hummed, pressing a hand against my ear in preparation to bachira's loud voice when he spots me.
