"whaat? i always took you for the quiet nerdy type. that's unexpected."
nagi snickered at his friend. "you're the nerd in comparison."
reo shot him a playful glare, "shut up. you know damn well that you score the highest out of us three."
nagi shrugged and leaned his head on his desk while i sighed.
"i-i've never really been that smart..." i mumbled, toying with my fingers.
"nonsense! all you need is a good tutor. we can help you." reo said, waving his hand dismissively. "maybe this weirdo will finally share his secrets with us..."
"secrets are too troublesome..."
"that's not comforting to hear!"
"y/n, what do you have for lunch?" nagi suddenly asked, staring up at me from his desk. i tilted my head and reached into my bag. "...it's a homemade bento."
"homemade? you made it?" reo asked, leaning back against his chair while i nodded.
"sweet. can i have a taste?" nagi said, now suddenly feeling energic enough to sit up straight. reo tilted his head at this. "don't you have your own food?"
"it's store bought. i've gotten tired of eating them everyday..." he sighed, taking out 2 grocery store onigiri with a small bottle of juice.
reo flicked nagi's head. "ask for some of mine then, let the poor girl enjoy her food."
i shook my head. "it's ok. i made a lot anyway..."
nagi's expression lit up when he turned to me, and this is possibly the most emotion i've seen him express on his face. i guess food is everyone's weakness, isn't it?
i could feel my face warming up as i took out my bento, suddenly feeling insecure about my cooking. what if it's not good enough and he thinks it's gross? he's definitely going to hate me then, isn't he? he helped me out and did all of these good things for me and i couldn't even give him good food...
i was snapped out of my anxious thoughts when i saw him reach out for my bento before placing it on his desk. he took out his own chopsticks from his bag before opening the box and he almost instantly began drooling.
"ah.. looks so good... you weren't joking when you said you made a lot..." he muttered, beginning to dig in. i could see reo from the corner of my eye trying to contain his fist from smacking nagi's head.
"where's your respect, you lazy bum? let her have some of her food as well." reo barked, now taking out his own expensive bento box and beginning to dig in.
nagi's cheeks were too full for him to be able to even open his mouth to speak, but he tried to anyway.
"schorry... 's ... good..."
"ooiii! eat with your mouth closed!"
i smiled softly and sat on the vacant seat beside nagi, watching as he munched on my bento.
when he swallowed the food, he pushed his onigiri in front of me.
"you can have this in exchange. is that fine?"
i nodded, taking the onigiri in my hands before beginning to eat. the onigiri wasn't anything special, which was no surprise since it's from the grocery store.
i watched nagi take a couple more bites before returning my bento box to me, and only a quarter of the food was gone. i kind of expected him to eat over half of it... but i guess he's pretty decent.
"it's good. how do you even find the time to make all of this?" nagi sighed before shoving one of the onigiri's he bought in his mouth.
i took a couple bites from the bento before answering softly, "i usually wake up early..."
"that's some dedication... i can barely wake up early enough to complete all my ingame missions."
reo sweat dropped. "that's just you, nagi."
"um... if you want... i can make you some... and bring it to school." i proposed, surprising the boys and even myself. my face warmed up in embarrassment and i found myself stuffing my face with food and avoiding eye contact at all costs.
"if it's not a problem i'd appreciate that." he said, and i nodded.
reo eyed us both before sighing loudly. "god... i can't stand this blatant flirting. can't you at least wait until i'm not around?"
"f-flirting?!" we both stuttered out, staring at the purple haired boy who chuckled.
"you should see your faces right now."
"shut up, you're just jealous."
"jealous? of what? do entertain me."
nagi suddenly collapsed on top of his desk and began snoring, surprising us both.
"uh... i guess he used up all of his social energy for the day..." reo sighed, and i tilted my head in confusion.
"don't worry about it. he gets like this sometimes." the boy shrugged, before taking a seat on his desk. "sigh... wednesday's are so boring."
