"My father would never forgive me if I didn't introduce myself," everyone was having their own conversations, but I invited someone very important. But not that important to remember his name.. oh well, "he said you two used to do crew together!" I smiled."Crew?" A familiar voice came from round the corner, "oh hi. I'm Serena Van Der Woodsen!" She shook his hand and smiled, "Ella I didn't know you were interested in crew!"
"I'm not. I was just saying that there's a family connection-.." I fired back.
"I didn't know you were interested in athletics at all!" Is she really trying to make a scene? Such an attention seeker, "especially the ones where you get your hair wet. She's really more of an indoors type of girl!"
She rubbed my shoulders as the man smiled."Oh, my goodness! Your glass is almost empty! Let's get you a drink!" She excused herself from this 'heart- to- heart' conversation and walked over to the bar.
"Can you explain how Serena's commandeering the Yale rep.." I walked over to Chuck and Blair, "while you're supposed to be his usher?"
"I switched.." He smirked, "I'm trying to get into Princeton. Oh don't get your La Perlas in a bunch. Look who has arrived! Dr. Ostroff!" He turned me and Blair to face the dr.
"Blair, Ella, Dr, Donald Ostroff.""Such a pleasure!" Blair shook his hand.
"I've heard such wonderful things!"
____________
"May I please have everyone's attention!!" I stepped onto the stage, tapping the champagne glass with a metal spoon.
"Welcome again to the Constance Billard-St Jude's ivy week mixer. I'm Ella Waldorf," I looked over at my sister."And I'm Blair Waldorf!"
"And we're the chairs of the community Outreach Committee." The audience clapped. "Every year, our schools choose to support one local institution, that we feel benefits our community."
"This year, our schools have chosen to honour the Ostroff Center." Blair added, as the audience cheered, but got gifted a dirty look from Serena.
"This semester, our choice is a very personal one.. because the centre has helped one of our own. It's because of their excellent program which aids so many young addicts and alcoholics.. that a student here with us today is clean and sober. At least for now." I swallowed.
"Can we please have Serena Van Der Woodsen join us up on stage?" Blair smiled.
Serena made her way up to the stage, until Blair stopped her first.
"Don't try to deny it. Chuck saw you." She then moved out of the way, allowing Serena walk up to the microphone."Hi! I'm Serena Van Der Woodsen. I just want to thank my friends, Ella and Blair Waldorf, for recognising the Ostroff Center and all the good things they do. Thanks girls!" She started to clap.
"At the Center, one of the main things that we learn is forgiveness. And I've learned about how in order to move forward with our future.. we must forgive those who have wronged us in the past. And we must ourselves ask for forgiveness.. from those whom we've wronged. Without this forgiveness, innocent people get hurt." her voice shook."All right thank you, Serena!! Thank you, thank you!" I guided her towards the stage exit.

Honesty may be the best policy in some zip codes. But not in this one. And not this week.
Because, "I was a teenage drug addict" is not exactly a winning college essay.
____________
The afternoon was filled with celebrations and conversation, until Mad Serena walked over to me.
"Blair, Ella, what the hell was that?"
"Will you excuse us for a minute, please?" I looked back at the man who I talked with from earlier, and it was just us too.
"So we good now? We square?" Serena asked.
"No. Because nothing I do will ever be as bad as what you did to me." I sighed.
"Look, I'm asking you, please. I'll stop if you will."
"You're just saying that because today you lost.. and you're gonna keep losing!" I added, "now if you'll excuse us, unlike you, we have a future to get back to."
_________
"Ella can I talk to you?" Little van Der Woodsen, asked.
"Sure!" I followed Eric into a space where I could actually hear.
"Serena's not a patient at the Ostroff Center." He said.
"Eric, you've always been sweet. I understand you trying to protect your sister."
"I am!" He sighed.
"I've never ever seen you take a drink." I smiled.
"I'm not an alcoholic. I did this!" He lifted up his sleeve and showed me his wrist.
My smile dropped.
"And today, Serena protected me."
"Eric.. I didn't.."
"See that coming? Yeah? Well now you know." He walked away.
