The Naked Truth – Part 3

Alex’s P.O.V

I look around expecting to find Melanie but she isn’t there. I find her talking to Kane smiling happily as reminiscing old memories. I walk towards them and as I get into hearing they stop chatting as if not wanting me to hear. “Hey Melanie come on. I want to introduce you to my parents.” I smile at her. She seems to be hesitant on my suggestion but follows my lead. Leaving Kane standing alone. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s weird for me to be meeting parents because I’m not you girlfriend.” I shrug my shoulders. I guess she’s right.

“Well. I guess you’re right but this is more so they won’t make an assumption and start planning my wedding.” I chuckle as she turns a dark shade of red and lets her long brown hair fall covering her face. The sight of that makes chuckle even more. It has been a long time since I’ve seen a grown women blush it is a refreshing sight. All of a sudden I have the urge to touch her cheek but stop myself.

“What are you laughing at?” She snaps at me.  I attempt covering my laugh with a cough and fail miserably.

“I’m sorry. It’s just a refreshing sight, seeing a grown women blush.” I answer in between laughter.  She frowns angrily at me.

“That’s not funny.” I nod my head disagreeing with her while still laughing at her reaction. She slaps my shoulder ending my laughter.

“Ouch you hit like a man.” I say rubbing my shoulder. She giggles childishly at her mischief. She starts flexing off her muscles.

“Yep looks at my guns. Just don’t be jealous because I have bigger muscle than.” She says to me laughing along with me. She has a childish giggle that so contagious you just want to join in or have her laughing all the time. It sounds so carefree.

“No I have bigger muscles than you do.” I tell her flexing my arm for her. She starts poking it and frowns

“There isn’t an ounce of muscle in there. All I felt was fat.”

“Hey that—.” I begin whining about how it’s not fat but am interrupted by my parents.

Melanie’s P.O.V

“Alex why don’t you introduce us to your new girlfriend?” Two people say to him.

“Ma, Pa she’s not my girlfriend she’s just a friend.” He says rolling his eyes at me. I smile and shake my head knowing how annoying other people’s assumptions can be.

“She’s not. Too bad she seems nice and she got you really smiling and you need to smile more.” Her smile seems to falter as she says those words. There has to be something behind these questions.

“Melanie these people are my parents. Parents this is Melanie.” We shakes hands then they excuse themselves as a pretty red head walks in looking sad, depressed, and tired holding on to two very identical and small hands who I assume are her children.

“Alex did something bad happen in your past to make your family ask those questions?” I ask curiously and he instantly stiffens. I look at his face his expression full of pain and hate. I shudder just looking at his hurt expression. “I’m sorry.” I utter reaching out for his hands to have it taken out of my reach.

“It’s alright. It’s not your fault.” His say his voice distant. “Come on everyone’s this way.” He says leading me toward the chaotic group of people.

I have been here for barely 3 hours and they have treated me like family. None of cared that I’m not blood related.  Everything was great except for Alex he barely talked to me or glance my way. He smiled with everyone else but when I got close he would shut down and not speak. I really messed this up, I don’t like it but what should I care he’s only someone I meet right?
