'Truly Madly Deeply' by Yoke Lore
Chapter Twenty One
Nicole's P.O.V.
A month rolled by quickly and strange things started to appear to my vision. I noticed Kate and Ky acting as if they don't even know each other. Adding on to that, he has been clinging to me and always asking me if I want to go riding, but I have been declining lately and now that has caused him to turn his thoughts to his other team members.
I don't know what has happened between him and Kate, but they need to work it out as I can only take so much of Ky attention diversion. Olivia hasn't been around much, and I have been trying to talk to her, but she just won't take the time to listen to me.
It's is always either a hello or goodbye from her, and most of the time it's the two words in the same sentence. I just wish I wasn't out of the loop. I always stand in the shadows, looking at the conversations occurring with my headphones in, imagining the topics. Hannah and I have been struggling to Skype for a while too.
Homework has overloaded us a lot, and she has new friends that she is constantly going out with. I know that she is trying to get Travis out of her mind, and talking to me doesn't help much, but I am beginning to feel alone as I am dying to talk to her.
These past two weeks I have been excluding myself not only from friends, but also the team. Today at practice, I plan on demanding to ask Ky of some space away from the team. At lunch I told everyone I had to use the bathroom, and before any other girls could join me, I ran.
I passed the bathroom and went up to the practice basketball courts up on the blacktop. I set my backpack down by the fence and picked up a basketball that was randomly on the ground. I started dribbling the ball and some anger began to slip away.
I did free throws and moved on to layups. I kept missing, and that's when the anger came swarming back. "Gosh dammit!" I screamed and threw the ball as I turned around and I heard a grunt. I spun back around and Ky was lying on the floor holding his private part.
I ran to him and crouched by his side. I started to laugh, and before I knew anything, I was sprawled out on the floor dying from laughter. "Perfect shot!" I yelled and pumped my fist in the air. "You suck." He said groaning.
"But I don't swallow." I said and winked at him. His face flushed and he stood up. "Who knew you had such a dirty mind." He said with a smirk. I scoffed and laughed. "Little do you know." I muttered.
"What are you doing up here, I thought you were going to the bathroom?" He changed the subject after readjusting his nut sack. "So you were listening? I thought you were too busy comparing your biceps with the other boys." I said with a tease. "Um no, you announced it to the whole table." He responded with bored eyes.
He chuckled nervously while cupping the back of his neck. Wow, genius Nicole once again making a total fool of yourself. I blushed and looked away. "Right." I mumbled and started to fumble with my fingers.
"Look Nicole I have been meaning to tell you this, but you have really been avoiding me." He started and my head shot up. "I could say the same about everybody else around me." My sarcastic words echoed around my head.
"If I bother you, just simply tell me to fuck off. It's is honestly that simple. You had been snappy and that's why I turned my head." He said and shrugged. "No, Ky..." I drifted off and immediately felt regret. He is giving my the same eyes that my dogs give when I am about to leave them home alone.
"It's not that." I respond quickly and take a seat on the blacktop. Thank god I always wear black, this would be so bad on white pants. "Then talk to me." He said and took a seat next to me. "Well, you and Kate..." I start off to see if I hit a bad spot.
