Chapter Twenty Seven
Ah, Thanksgiving Break. I welcome you with open arms my dear. Sleep! During the school year, I have to get up at five twenty in the morning for swim and it has begun to melt and fry my brain. Having Ky seems to help a lot though.
I have been sticking to my normal lazy clothes for school such as sweats and t-shirts. "Sullivan, I am very close to throwing something at you!" My government teacher shouted. I jolted upwards and started writing down what was on the board.
Oh, did I forget to mention, my government teacher throws things. Yup. I have been hit in the boob with a white board marker. Very painful. All girls would know my pain. I almost got hit in the head with a world globe.
Ky had switched around his schedule when we made amends and so now he has basketball before school and is able to be at school the same time as me. He has truly changed and it makes my heart puke at the thought of it.
He better not be going soft on me. Oh well, I can see right through him now that he has opened up. He may be all rough and tough, but once you reach down inside there, you find the purity a redeeming values. Ew, that almost sounds wrong.
Damn my dirty mind. "I expect for this to be done by next week. Have a good Thanksgiving, don't trust drunk people!" He shouts as we all race for the door. People dance their way down the hallways yet I sit back and wait.
I wait for his back and yellow Under Armor backpack.
I lead with full force while running then jump and pull Ky back, but it seems he knew I would do so, therefore, he pulls forward and I slide off his back. I pout and cross my arms over my chest. "Well you're no fun." I say and look forward. I hear him chuckle.
"You know I hurt my back." He scolded me lightly. I gasped with all pure truth. "What? No! What happened?" I demanded. I stopped him by standing in front of him. "While I was playing some idiot fell on me, using his elbow to dig into my back." Ky said and scowled.
I'm sure that kid did not walk away unscathed. I shiver at the thoughts of what Ky would do. I feel so bad though, I haven't been able to get to any of Ky's games since they are late in the day and I have been so tired from swim. My sleep schedule has been locked tightly this year.
I know they are on Fridays, but I have made my curfew nine o'clock and they always run past that. I just don't know how we are still managing this friendship although it has been getting more awkward.
It's just hard to juggle everything this senior year, plus I'm looking at colleges close to home. But, as is Ky. He has turned down scholarships for basketball because he told them it was just a high school fling, I guess he wants to major in engineering.
I ran into the girls locker room and grabbed my gym bag then ran back out to Ky who waited outside for me. "Hm, I haven't been in there yet." He said and winked at me as he motioned towards the lockers. "Don't tempt me to punch you in the back." I said and squinted at him.
"So, um, I was wondering if you wanted to come over some time this weekend." Ky said and cupped the back of his neck. "Yes!" I said almost immediately. I haven't seen Freedom in forever. Is that the real reason I'm agreeing?
I shoo the disturbing thoughts away as I convince myself that my horse desires attention. "Okay, well, I guess I will be seeing you tomorrow." Ky said with a smirk. "I know you miss me already!" I yelled as I opened my truck door. "Boo hoo!" He yelled back and that was our simple goodbye.
We both piled into out transportation and drove off. When I got home, I slumped on my bed and immediately fell asleep. My teachers have been cramming so many tests into one week. Due to that, I have been trying to cram so much information into my head for one week.
