Chapter 1
Popular boy has its perks I'll admit. The name Ky Mcullen is always passed around in whispers as I walk by. It would be impossible to count how many eyes Rico, Matt, and my best friend, Travis, have on us.
With the middle school set next to the High, tons of freshmen know the name as well. Once they get to see that matching face, they never forget it. And since it's the beginning of a new year, new kids are jumping into every grade from other schools. I am currently beginning junior year.
Since this town is small, we only get about four new kids in each grade throughout the whole year, but those numbers have been thinning out lately. Lets see who we get this year.
"It's about time! I'm just ready for the basketball season already." Travis stomped his way into the gate at my side. "Yea, but being team captain has its perks." I pushed out my chest as I said so with pure pride. "Don't get to cocky now." Travis glared at me.
Our conversation was peeled away as everybody stopped. A girl walked through the gates that I had never seen before. She had long light-brown hair that reached down to mid-back and it ended in golden tips. She had to be at least 5'8 or 5'9. She wore a Foo Fighters T-shirt with light blue jeans and combat boots.
"Check out new girl. Perfect body." Matt exclaimed with an open mouth. I shut his mouth quickly for him. "All you care about is if she has a nice body or not. Matt, just shut up, maybe you should try and at least get a girlfriend instead of having just a one night stand with every hot girl that comes around." I told him.
As the new girl walked through the school, the crowd spilt for her. She had a boy following behind her that looked at least four or five years older. He was about 6'4, and he towered over her while giving a death glare to every boy that looked at her.
As soon as she walked through the front office doors, the first bell of this school year rang. Everybody forgot about her and scrambled to get to their first period class and hoped to not be late on the first day.
My girlfriend Kate ran over to me and kissed me on the cheek, and I kissed her on her forehead. Kate is the hottest girl at the school, but she isn't very cliche. Kate has a kind heart and doesn't abuse her popularity unlike the movies. We have been together for two years now and I don't feel the need to break it off anytime soon.
The new girl still lingered in my mind. Her brother and her look like city material. Why come to a small dug out high school? Everybody knew everybody since there are no other high schools in the district that you can join other than the one I am standing in.
"Who was that girl that just walked into school? She caught like everyone's attention." Kate looked up at me with worried eyes. Attention is what she desires. That is why basketball comes first before anything. Kate always has to have my eyes on her, but basketball is my main worry right now.
Nicoles P.O.V.
God, first day of school and blending in didn't go so well. "Scotty, what if I go to the wrong class? What if I am late to class? Oh my God, I am going to be late to first period and-"
"Nicole! Just shut up! You are fine, plus it is your first day so it doesn't matter. Mom forced me to take you to school on your first day so don't think this makes us friends, just because our damn sister couldn't take you hers-"
"Hey Michelle had to move, in case you forgot, and you are not going to do anything for the rest of the day so just be quiet and get a job or something." I told him, standing up for our sister. Scotty hated high school so he trudges through the teenagers with bad memories whip-lashing his mind.
