Chapter Four
Nicole P.O.V.
I was happy that I was able to put those boys in their place and show them a big surprise. I walked out of the Girl's locker room and stopped in my tracks. Right in front of me stood a shirtless Ky, and my mind went blank as I scrambled for words to say to him.
He was perfectly tan with a six pack, and you could tell that he probably gym work more than he does school work. My eyes immediately stuck as I studied every inch of his face. As soon as the smirk appear though, I felt my heart beat out of my chest.
That's mine. My signature.
I looked away and wondered for something snarky to say but nothing appeared to my mind except for typical high school girl lashes. When it was obvious enough that I'm dumb-struck, Ky continued on with his prideful walk past me.
"Welcome to the team." He whispered by my ear, and I could feel the heat radiating off of him. I watched him walk away and his back muscles contract every time he took a step. After a moment of astonishment, I scrambled in his footsteps; it seems I was going the wrong way out.
Granbury High has everything inside due to extreme weather, including basketball courts, cafeteria, hallways, etc. In California everything was like the movies preview. Open hallways, eating outside, occasional outside classes.
High school was like a mall there. The front desk at San Marcos High actually had basic brochures for parents or faculty touring the school. Here in Granbury, you have to figure out the way yourself at a surprisingly big school.
I follow Ky into the parking lot where my Chevy Silverado 2015 sits. She, is in all words, my baby. My truck has never failed me and up until the moment she does, I will always depend on her. As I walk to her, I get out my keys and start up the air conditioning so I don't have to wait any longer.
I hop in and turn my keys into the ignition, and start going home, which wasn't that far away. Luckily, I only live about five to ten minutes away from school depending on traffic. Some kids at school live half an hour to forty five away. Country living, I suppose.
As I start home, I pick up food for the whole Sullivan family except for Michelle. She lives in New Mexico with her boyfriend, therefore, she doesn't get to enjoy the late-night pickup at Taco Bell for dinner anymore.
I listened to "Girls" by The 1975 on my way to get food and sang along with it. I picked up food while feeling my stomach growl for attention and care the moment I slipped into the garage. I tip-toed in the house and secretly put my gym clothes in the washer.
I put dinner on the table when my brother popped out of now where and took one of his tacos, his burrito, and my car keys while walking at the same time. "I'll see you after practice, or maybe not." Scotty yelled behind him with a mouthful of taco.
I rolled my eyes and put my parent's food on two plates and took it to them. "Hey, I brought Taco Bell home, and school was great." I told them as I dropped off my mom's plate on her desk. "Thank you." She said then paused. "Why are you home late?"
"Oh, it's just this Spanish club thing I joined." I lied.
My parents can't know about basketball because my dad will tell me I can't do it because it involves boys and also because of possible injuries. "There aren't any boys, are there?" My dad asked me as he kisses my cheek, and I roll my eyes.
"Don't roll your eyes at me young lady. Those boys are like horny pings running around!" He pointed a instructive finger between my eyes. "Dad!" I yelled at him and ran out as I heard him laughing, and my mom yelled something to him about being inappropriate.
My dad is amazing and funny, that's why he is basically been my best friend since birth. We are also one of the same which is at least what I've always been told. My father has always been a friend to everyone and never turns down anyone in need.
I move past my parents and grabbed my backpack before jumping on my bed to do my homework. I threw a ball at my door causing it to slam shut with a cringe, but a moment of silence that followed was broken by the ringing of a Skype call to Hannah.
"Oh my, apples and pears, how was the first day of school? I miss you! Did anyone pick on you, if they did I am going to beat them. Are there any cute guys, details woman!" She yelled into the computer. I just laughed and answered a few of her questions.
"The first day of school was okay. I miss you too, and somebody pulled my chair out while I was sitting on it, but that was mainly it." I told her with a normal tone. She glared at me for a moment as a flash of anger came and went in her eyes.
"You forgot the cute guy question..." I love Hannah with all my heart, she is like my second sister and I honestly don't know what I would do without her. "Well there is this guy named Travis but that is mainly it."
"Oh Nicole is going to get laid." She smirked at me. "Oh my god you're so gross." I laughed with her. Hannah pulls off cute and innocent at school, but I know everything that goes on behind that curtain in her mind.
"Well, how was your first day of school? How about guys? And if there are bullies they better prepare for an ass beating." I told her. "Um it was good, Scarlett and Rachel miss you. No men yet, and there was just those perky little populars, that's it." She told me as she started her homework.
We sat there for the rest of the hour, just listening to Luke Bryan and doing our homework. Before we knew it we are singing together as well as the time passed in a blur. I glanced over at the clock and noticed that it was almost 11:00 o'clock.
"Oh, I have to go to bed, almost forgot that your time is two hours behind me." I told her as I shut my book. "Okay, well goodnight and have a great day tomorrow, love you." She smiled at me with a hint of sadness in her voice.
"Love you too. Have a great day tomorrow as well, goodnight." I was sad that I had to say goodbye as I pressed end. I took everything off my bed and whistled really loud and it echoed throughout our house.
My Golden Retriever, Skylar, and my Jack Russell, Camryn, both hopped up on my bed and curled up into a ball. One by my feet, and one resting their head on my stomach. I waited until my door made a squeak and opened it up to my Ragdoll cat, Emma.
She hopped up on her bed on my night stand that is right next to my own bed. Occasionally her tail will fly over by accident and I will get a mouthful of fur while I am sleeping. I pet her a few times and gave her treats then I heard my brother come through the front doors.
He walked into my room and took Camryn to sleep with him. He patted Emma's stomach and almost received a claw to his hand as she hissed at him. I flopped onto my bed and yawned as I crawled underneath my toasty covers.
I rubbed my eyes, "Hey, how was football?" I asked him. "Very tiring, they made me do all these things to test out my knees." He sighed and walked up to my bed to sit down. "Whoa, I love you and all, but scoot that stinky booty away from the bed." I told him.
He took off his shirt and threw it at my face as I held in a scream, remembering that my parents are asleep on the other side of the house. I threw it back at him as he slipped out of my room and shut the door behind him.
I drifted off into sleep's arms as my mind wandered about this day that had just passed and the days that are to come.
