After 20 days..
New York-Presbyterian Hospital
11:00 pm
Jennie's POV
As I slowly regained consciousness, the throbbing pain pulsating through my body was overwhelming. Blinking against the harsh brightness of the hospital lights, I struggled to make sense of my surroundings. Through the haze of confusion, blurred figures emerged – my parents, their faces contorted with worry and tears streaming down their cheeks.
The realization hit me like a sledgehammer – I was in a hospital, hooked up to wires and tubes, my body battered and bruised. Panic surged through me as I tried to piece together what had happened, but my memory was a jumbled mess, fragments of images and sensations swirling in my mind like leaves in a storm.
Questions swirled in my head, but my voice failed me as I tried to speak. All I could manage was a weak groan, the pain in my body a stark reminder of the ordeal I had endured. What had brought me to this state? What had happened to me? The answers eluded me, lost in the fog of confusion and pain.
As my parents enveloped me in a comforting embrace, their words washed over me like a soothing balm.
How do you feel, sweetheart? Are you in pain?
They asked, their voices filled with concern and relief at my awakening. Struggling to find my voice amidst the turmoil of emotions raging within me, I finally managed to croak out a response.
What happened?
I rasped, my throat raw and hoarse.
You met with an accident Jennie and so did Y/N.
As my parents delivered the devastating news of our accident, a whirlwind of emotions tore through me, threatening to consume me whole. Memories flooded back with merciless clarity, each recollection a dagger to my already wounded heart. Y/N... the one I loved, the one I trusted, the one who betrayed me.
With trembling resolve, I finally mustered the courage to voice the question that hung heavy in the air.
What happened to Y/N?
I asked, my voice barely a whisper, yet each syllable weighed down by the enormity of my anguish.
My parents exchanged a glance, their expressions fraught with sorrow and apprehension. I could see the reluctance in their eyes, the pain of having to deliver such devastating news to their shattered daughter.
But I refused to let them skirt around the issue, my desperation driving me to demand the truth, no matter how painful it might be.
Tell me..
I insisted, my voice rising with a mixture of frustration and desperation.
What happened to Y/N?
And then, in a voice heavy with sorrow, my father spoke the words that shattered my world anew.
Y/N is in a coma.
He said, his voice barely audible above the din of my racing thoughts.
She hasn't responded to any treatments... It's been twenty days, and there's been no change.
As the weight of his words settled over me like a suffocating blanket, I felt the ground give way beneath me, plunging me into the depths of despair. Y/N... my Y/N, the one I had loved with all my heart, now lying motionless, trapped in a limbo between life and death. The enormity of it all was too much to bear, threatening to crush me beneath its crushing weight.
