Gabrielle woke up to the sound of knocking at the door, her eyes still heavy with sleep. She sat up, disoriented and bleary-eyed, trying to make sense of the sudden disturbance. As she rubbed her eyes and stretched, she heard the deep voice of Fatboy call out from the other side of the door. "Gabs, it's me," he said, his voice carrying a hint of urgency. "Open up, we need to talk."

Fatboy continued to knock, his impatience growing with each passing moment. Gabby stumbled to the door, rubbing her eyes slightly before swinging the door wide open. Gabby's eyes widened in shock as she noticed 2 police officers stood next to Fatboy.

As the door swung open, Gabby felt a jolt of adrenaline race through her body, her gaze immediately drawn to the officers standing beside Fatboy. Their presence sent a wave of anxiety coursing through her, and she couldn't help but wonder what had brought them here. The sight of them was unexpected and unsettling.

"What's going on?" she managed to ask, her voice shaky as she looked between the police officers and Fatboy, her heart racing.

"Miss Slater?" A police officer spoke, folding his arms. "I'm PC Cowell, this is DC Green. Can we talk?" the woman asked, her voice emotionless yet sincere.

The coldness in the police officers' voices sent a shiver down Gabby's spine, the formality of it all a stark reminder of the seriousness of the situation. She nodded slowly, a mix of intrigue and trepidation in her eyes. "Of course," she replied quietly. "Please, come through to the living room" she yawned as she rubbed her eyes again.

As she led the police officers into the living room, Fatboy followed closely behind. Gabrielle's mind raced with questions and concerns, her thoughts swirling in a haze of confusion. She gestured toward the couches, silently inviting them to take a seat. The air was thick with tension as they settled into place.

"In the early hours of this morning a body was found. We believe it to be Daniel Walker...now we know that you two had an altercation on Friday, do you know if he said anything that seemed strange to you?" DC Green asked, staring back at a confused Gabby.

A wave of shock washed over Gabby as the police officer shared the news. Her eyes widened, and her hands instinctively moved to her mouth in disbelief. It was hard for her to process that Dan, the man she once loved, was now a tragic headline. Her head felt dizzy and her chest tight with emotions.

After a moment of stunned silence, she managed to compose herself enough to respond. "Strange?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm....I'm not sure. We had an altercation, yes, but nothing that stands out as abnormal."

As she spoke, her mind raced back to the encounter in the park with Dan. The recollection of their conversation and the way he had looked at her sent a chill down her spine. She couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to his story than she knew, and the weight of the unknown pressed heavily upon her.

She shook her head slowly, trying to clear her thoughts. "What exactly happened?" she asked, her eyes meeting the police officers with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity.

"His body was found early this morning in his apartment," PC Cowell revealed, his expression solemn. "There were signs of a drug overdose" He paused for a moment, allowing the information to sink in. "We're currently treating this as a suicide."

"Drugs?" Gabby stammered, staring at the officers with wide eyes. "But he said he was done with all that..." Gabby looked up at Fatboy, her face full of surprise.

As Gabby's words hung in the air, Fatboy remained quiet, his eyes fixed on the police officers. The revelation seemed to take him by surprise as well. He had no idea that Dan was still using drugs, and the knowledge left him feeling dumbfounded. He looked at Gabby, the shock in her eyes mirroring his own disbelief.
