RABYA

“Wow.” I couldn't help but exclaim the moment I stepped inside Daivik's restaurant.

It was looking like a dreamy place, like how they show in magzines. The decoration, interiors, furnitures, lightings, ambience and the surrounding in general was top notch.

I really don't know how to behave. This is the first time I'm out at such place with Adhrit. Even if it was some small eatery, I would've felt the same nervousness because it's not about the place, it's about him. After what happened in the car, I don't want to dive again into such awkward situation where my heart felt like collapsing with rushed beating.

The manager came to greet us and took us to the already booked table. When I sat across Adhrit, I take a quick look around and the room was filled with rich and socially powerful people. Oddly, I didn't feel the sense of inferiority to them. I've accepted a long back that there's a huge class divide between the people of our country and there's absolutely nothing wrong to accept that you don't come from a rich background in the midst of the crowd who'd grown up with a generational wealth.

“What are you thinking about? Are you uncomfortable—”

I shook my head. “No, it's not like that.”

“Okay.”

“When I was young, I used to wonder that what if I was born into some rich family? When I saw my parents  struggling financially, I often thought that if they didn't have the burden of taking care of two children, they might've lived a little better life?” I stopped in middle. “I'm sorry, I'm speaking nonsense.”

“No. No, please, tell me.” He passed me an assuring smile.

Maybe it was his smile or I don't know but I wanted to share my thoughts with him. It was as if somewhere I knew that he's going to understand whatever I've to say.

“But then at the same time, my heart knew that I don't want to be born in a rich family neither do I want to not be the daughter of my parents. Even if the life gave me chance, I would've chosen my family over and over again.”

Maybe that is the reason why I don't feel insecure in a room full of rich people when I know that what my parents did for me was my real wealth. And no amount of money could ever replace that.

“You're younger than me but when I talk to you, I feel like you're too mature for this world.” He said, his fingers tapping slightly on the menu.

I scurried my eyebrows. “Is it a bad thing?”

But before Adhrit could reply, his friend; Daivik walked to us.

“Ah, fuck, look who's here.” He winked at Adhrit. “I guess, Adhrit Singh Chauhan was tired of carrying the load of his eighteenth century village on his shoulders that he decided to grace my humble restaurant with his divine presence.”
