RABYA
"I'm in love with you, Adhrit."
The whoosh of air from the window hit our face and the only sound that clicked between us was the faint sound of water dripping from the tap in the kitchen.
His eyes remained locked at my face and he blinked. Once. Twice. Thrice.
"I love you." I whispered.
Hearing my words, he shook his head slightly as if he was mentally somewhere else and then I saw his Adam's apple bobbing down and a thin bead of sweat glistening on his forehead.
"You sure you're not going to faint?" I bite back my smile and leaned closer to press a kiss on his left cheeks.
He was still in haze, the corner of his eyes wrinkling a little when he rolled the bottom of his lips under his mouth and his Adam's apple moved once again.
"Adhrit-"
"My heart, Rabya-" He rasped. "My heart is going to collapse."
Next he didn't give me a chance to react when he crushed me into tight hug. His arms wrapping securely around me as my balance stumbled and we both fell on the bed. He buried his face in the crook of my neck and his warm breath tingled over my skin.
We both stayed still for a long pause. And he wasn't wrong when he said that his heart is going to collapse. I can hear the sound of his thumping heart; loud and furious.
I reached for his chest and placed the pad of my fingers against his heart and I can feel his pulse drowning into my own heart.
Like a tsunami, I was consumed by his heart. The heart that's exquisite and divine.
I pressed my eyes shut and let it swallow down to my bones that I'm the only one who can make his pulse go maddening.
He stayed over me for I don't know how long till I felt the moisture on my neck. I forrowed my eyebrows and forced him to look at me.
There were tears drops on his cheeks and the wave of emotions now lighting on his face.
I frowned. "Adhrit? Why are you crying?"
He clenched his jaw and then shrugged. "Rabya, I-" He swallowed his words down and buried his face back into the crook of my neck.
The wetness of his tears inked into my skin and impatience bruned my heart. "What's wrong?" I asked, this time slowly caressing his stiffened shoulders.
"It's just that....." He trailed off.
He gets away from me and sat on the edge of the bed. He rubbed both of his hands over his face and then his shoulder started shaking slightly.
I scooted closer to him and and placed my hand over his thighs. "Tell me, what's wrong? Please...."
I wiped the tears from his face and looked straight at him in worry.
