RABYA
I wetted my dry lips in nervousness. This itself feels like I'm infront of an interview panel despite it being a normal conversation with Agastya Singhania.I clamped my hands together when he walked into his study. The wooden table had a bundle of old white papers staked on the side. The moonlight peaking through the window gave me a view of the garden full of flowers. Orchids. There were too many of orchids along with white lilies, peony, roses and couple of others.
Alaia had invited Adhrit and I over the dinner. And since, Adhrit had planned to tell his friends that he had left his village, he had asked Saad and Daivik to join us.
“I'm sorry for the delay. I was helping Alaia in the kitchen.” He walked inside and passed me a soft smile.
He sat across the table and opened my blue file having all my marksheet, CV, certificates, experience letter, resume, copy of GATE AIR rank and the articles I've written on robotics and nano technology.
His eyes thoroughly scanned each and every page and he gave me a small nod. “I'm not going to hire you to my company just because you're Adhrit's wife.”
“I don't want that either. I want you to hire me on my calibre.” I replied.
He folded his hands on the table and raised his brows. “Very well, I'd forward your documents to our interview panel. You'd receive a call from them. Let's see if you can make through it.”
My nervousness eased and I offered him a big smile. “Thankyou.”
He chuckled, slightly shaking his head. “Do you really think that you need to go through the interview panel after having this resume?”
I blinked in confusion. “I don't get it.”
“Welcome to our company, Rabya. It'd be our pleasure to have you working with us.” He added.
My eyes widened in disbelief. “But—”
“Believe me, I would never hire someone who isn't capable. I'm glad that we both stand on the same ground that calibre should be the foremost criteria.” He cut me in middle.
My heart started racing in excitement. Once upon a time, this was my dream. To work in Agastya Singhania's company.
“Thankyou so much.” I said. “You won't believe but ever since my B.tech days, I had this strong fascination to work in your company. This was— is still my dream, Agastya.”
“When Adhrit first told me about your educational background, it was indeed impressive. I shared your article on gender equality to Alaia and she was so happy to read it. She talked to me about it for the whole day. I must say that my wife admires you alot.” He said.
I didn't miss the shine in his eyes when he mentioned about Alaia.
Men in love.
“Okay then, let's go downstairs, Adhrit might be burning in the flames of jealousy.”
I laughed at his comment. “Sure.”
Upon seeing me, Adhrit offered a big smile which evaporated into thin air when he saw Agastya grinning at him while walking downstairs with me.
“Rabya was just telling me that about how it was her dream to work in my company.” Agastya ran fingers through his hair and then winked.
Adhrit clenched his jaw but then a challenging smirk appeared on his face when he saw Alaia walking to the table with a tray of cookies in her hand.
