(BONUS CHAPTER 2)
(A little more glimpse of Rabya, Adhrit and their son)SIX YEARS LATER
RABYA
"Ma'am." A girl hardly sixteen called me when I was about to leave the NGO.
"Yes." I smiled at her, gesturing to Adhrit to give me two minutes.
He nodded and turned off the engine of the car.
"Thank you." She said, smoothening her braids.
I raised my brows in confusion.
"I got the third rank in all India Science Olympiad." She handed me her certificate and a bronze medal.
I glanced at the certificate and then back at her. My pulse heightened as I remember her being the same girl who used to come to our NGO when she was ten. The brightest one in the classroom and the one who surprised me by learning the whole periodic table at the age of thirteen.
"Congratulations. I'm so proud of you." I patted her head.
"Ma'am, you know, I would've never gotten a chance to go and study in the nearest city if you didn't open the NGO here. Every day I returned home after taking classes here, I would sit next to my little brother and tell him about the things I learned. He studies in the boy's school that you've opened in our village. My brother was the one to convince our father to send me to the city for a better education. He said that he'd learnt in his school about the importance of quality education to both boys and girls. At first, I was scared to leave our home because sometimes our father gets angry and hit our mother but I realised that my brother was still young and if I could grab the opportunity to get a good education then I might be able to get a job and maybe it sounds like a fever dream but I hope someday, I'd be able to take my mother away from here to someplace nice and warm where she wouldn't have to live with the family who considers her nothing but a maid." She said.
I stilled but then smiled nevertheless. "You and your brother are the change that this world needs."
We talked for a couple of minutes before I gave her my number. "If you need any help with your studies, just send me a text. I'd be happy to help you over the video call."
When I sat inside the car, Adhrit held my hand and passed me a smile that made my heart melt into a pool of tranquillity.
"Shall we go?" He asked.
"Yes."
He handed me the pill for my motion sickness and once I gulped it down my throat, he ignited the engine.
"Ah, I'm so tired, Adhrit." I whispered, leaning onto the chair.
"How about a good shoulder massage and warm bath?" He asked.
"Mhm. Tempting." I moaned, imagining his fingers digging into my shoulders as he eased all the exhaustion in me.
"Make that sound again and we'd have a big problem, Sahiba." He chuckled.
I moved my eyes to his pants and bit back a smile seeing his hardened erection. "Do I need to remind you that we have a flight to catch?"
