RABYA
The moment I reached Adhrit's house, I walked straight to Reha.
"Rabya? Why are you here-" Before giving a chance to complete her sentence, I slapped her hard.
"What the hell is wrong with you, Reha? Are you out of your mind?" I screamed, for the very first time despising my sister.
She placed her hand over her cheek and tears rolled down from her eyes. "Why are you here? Why didn't you leave? I tried to help you, Rabya. Why did you come back? Why?"
I blinked in disbelief. "What do you mean by you tried to help me?"
"Your husband is ten years older than you, he even failed to pass twelfth standard. You don't deserve this, Rabya. You should've gone with your boyfriend and lived for yourself. You said that you wanted to live for yourself, no? Then why the fuck did you come back here? Adhrit might be a good man but he'll always be the reason why you've to be in this hellhole. The people here are monsters, they're going to kill your soul. I promise, I will take care of our mother but just ran away from here." She cried.
Seeing her tears, I felt like someone was stabbing my heart but how can I forget what she had done? She prouposely tried to create rift between me and Adhrit. Ever since our father died she had been bitter to me, not for once she cared about my feelings then why now? Why now she's behaving that she cares about me?
At one time, she literally wished that I'd get hit by my husband then why?"Don't you think that you've been doing the same to me?" I asked.
She closed her eyes for a moment then nodded. "Yes. I failed you as a sister, Rabya. I do know this. But now I'm trying to rectify my mistake. I was so lost in my anger towards you that I forgot to think about you. If you want then you can slap me again. Please do it. I know I deserved to be slapped, fuck, I deserve worse than this. I'm stupid, I'm so stupid." She sat on her knees and held my hands while crying continuously.
"Please get up. Let's not do this. I don't have enough strength to see you like this." I whispered, trying to make her stand up but she didn't let me do it.
"I'm not asking you to forgive me. Hate me however you want but escape this place." She buried her face into my hands.
Her tears touched my skin and all the anger I had in me melted right away. She's my Reha, I've seen her growing up with me, we've shared so many years together in one room where we both studied till late night and then we often went to the terrace and watch the stars while talking about our future where we'd be living our best lives. Just like me, she had her share of dreams. She wanted to become a lawyer and pianist and so many things but she had to cut her wings because we didn't have this much money.
When I got a job after completing my graduation, I made her study in a private school where the other kids were from well off background. She had hard time adjusting in there because everything was new for her. She once said to me that it would've been better if she could live just for herself because she hates seeing me working hard to provide for our family.
