LILITH
I shivered as the cold dug into my skin and traveled all over my body.
Drops of frizzing water were falling down my face and I wiped them with the back of my hand.
The air was smelling like mould and I scrunched my nose, the scent making me cough. My head was resting on the thin mattress, no pillow nor a blanket.
The room was dark, only a crack of the door allowing light to illuminate the suffocating place.
Noises were heard from the other side and I curled my legs to my chest.
Someone banged on the door, making me shake from fear. I pressed my body back, hitting the cold stone wall. I wrapped my hands around me and waited. My breaths escaping my lips fast as if I was running.
My heart beat drummed against my chest and I dug my nails into the skin of my arms.
Another loud noise.
After a few seconds, the door opened. I closed my eyes shut from the force of the light and turned my head to the side.
Shoes clacked on the floor and I slowly started to open my eyes again. The silhouette of the person stopped and they folded their hands in front of them. It was a lady.
"What did you do to her?" She spoke, her voice sharp and stern.
"She was crying and I had to do something." Another voice joined. It was a man. He stepped into the room as well and I tried to shield myself from him.
It was the same voice that I heard earlier when someone hit me across the face.
Was he going to hit me again?
"If boss hears about this you will lose your head. Clean her up." The lady turned around and began to make her way out. Her figure disappearing behind the door.
The man stomped on the floor, his booth making loud noises on the dirty ground.
"Get up!" He spoke louder and I shivered while pushing my body up. Just now I felt the sharp pain across my ribs and chest.
I blinked and felt another drop fall down my face. When I lifted my hand to wipe it off, I realised it was blood. The blood was dripping down from my eyebrow.
Maybe I was in shock but I still wasn't feeling the pain. I just knew the man hit me earlier.
He crouched down and opened the small bag he had with him.
He began to clean my wounds. Turning my head with his big hand more forcefully.
I winced in pain when he brought the cloth to my eye. It was stinging.
When he was done, he pushed my weak body on the mattress again and stood up. From the silhouette, I was able to make out his posture. He was tall and looked really strong. He had little hair on his head, his ears too big for his head.
He turned around and walked away. Closing the door with a loud thud.

"We'll go shopping tomorrow. You have to wear something that will make Emiliana jealous." Sloane chirped out. She was pacing the living room, her eyes glued to the screen of the iPad.
In couple of days we had a dinner with Sebastian's uncle, Sloane's brother. His wife Emiliana and my mother in law were sworn enemies. They always insulted each other with passive aggressive words.
