LUCIAN

I opened the door of the car and got out. It was past eleven but the lights in the house were still on. I guess Filipa was still doing some chores.

I rounded the car and opened the door to Lili's seat. She was still sleeping. I scooped her in my arms and closed the door with my leg.

The guards greeted me with bowing their heads and I headed towards the entrance. Lili rested her forehead on my shoulder and her arms were tucked close to her chest.

As we stepped in, Filipa immediately ran to the door.

"Hello, sir." Her eyes filled with concern as she looked at Lili.

"Is everything alright?"

"Yes. Everything's alright." I said and started to walk up the stairs. When I reached the second floor, I turned to my left and started to walk down the hallway to her room.

Her eyes started to open slowly when she heard me open the door.

She pressed her hands closer to her chest and her lips pouted.

I laid her down on the bed and she turned on her side while placing a hand over her eyes.

"Are we home?" She mumbled.

"Yes, we are home." I said and took a hold of her leg to take off her heels at least. When I did, she turned on her stomach. My jacket still on her, almost covering her whole body.

"You should change." The corset of the dress must be suffocating her.

"I will."

After I placed the heels next to the bed, I turned around and stalked to the door. When I got out, I closed it behind me and made my way to my office.

Just as I reached the door, I took out my phone from the pocket of my pants and dialed Artemio's number.

While I waited for him to pick up, I sat on the chair and rested my back on the leather material that somehow made my muscles relax.

"Lucifer? I finally got the pleasure to hear from you." His nickname made me shook my head. And it's not like we haven't heard from each other. I just had a conversation him last week.

Artemio was my only friend and the only person I trusted with everything.

We quickly became friends after we had a fight in middle school. He was the only one who dared to stand up to me and I admired that about him the most.

Most of the kids didn't even look at me because of my family but not Artemio. This piece of shit broke my nose but he was a loyal friend.

"I have a request for you."

"Go on." He spoke.

"Check the list of guests at the Montgomery's event and also check the cameras in the hallway at the bathrooms."

"What happened?" He asked and I ran a hand over my face.

"Some fucker attacked Lili." He hummed and I heard him type on a keyboard. Artemio was a hacker. A very good one. He didn't specifically worked for my family but he did researches whatever I asked him to.

I helped him with whatever he needed and he did the same for me.

I waited for couple of minutes and tapped my fingers on the wooden table.

"Owen McKinley. Probably just wanted to steal something from her. He is a very known gambler as you know." That fucker. I don't even know why was he invited, probably because of his dad.
