LILITH
I finished up with the last nail and blew on the red coat of nail polish on my fingers.
I still wonder why did I decide to do this the last minute. Lucian and I were going to the event in exactly one hour.
My makeup and hair were done but I was still here doing my nails. I thought that I was going to leave them naturally but then I saw the red nail polish in my makeup and decided to paint them.
My eyes flew to the mirror in front of me and I looked if there was anything missing on my face.
It has happened that I didn't properly blend the concealer in the past. Thankfully it was at night so it wasn't very visible.
Today though, I did good. My makeup was clean and I had a little bit of a smokey eye, with light shades. I applied a little bit more blush and my lips were painted in a nude colour.
I didn't really want to overdo my makeup because my dress was already sparkly.
My hair was down and straightened.
I looked at the phone on the vanity desk and thought for a second if I should call my mom.
I haven't really talked to her in a while. They couldn't be here for the wedding but at least I wanted to hear her and have a proper conversation with her like a mother and a daughter would have.
I waited for the nail polish to dry and then picked up my phone.
After searching for her name, I pressed on the number and called her.
Couple of seconds passed before she picked up.
"Lili?" Her voice echoed through the device and I smiled, a relief washing over me.
"Mom! Hi." I began to speak. "It's so good to finally hear you."
"How are you, honey? Everything alright?"
"Yeah everything's good. I just wanted to hear you."
"I'm glad you called dear." I didn't say anything about her not contacting me but I was glad that I was able to hear her.
I had the best relationship with my mom out of all family members. Dad wasn't the person to show affection so I was always awkward to even hug him. With my brother as well. William worked with dad all the time and I guess because of their job they didn't really like showing their love for us.
