The next morning, Victoria's house was quiet, the aftermath of the prom and the previous week's events settling like a calm after a storm. Mia and Eric were sprawled out on the living room couch, still wearing remnants of their prom attire, while Victoria sat cross legged on the floor, a dreamy expression on her face as she sipped her tea.

'Well.' Mia said, breaking the silence, 'that was one hell of a night.'

Eric nodded, stifling a yawn. 'Best prom ever. Hands down.'

Victoria smiled, her thoughts still on the dance floor with Alec. 'It was perfect. Everything about it.'

Mia exchanged a knowing glance with Eric before leaning forward. 'So, how's it feel? You know, being free to be with Alec now.'

Victoria's smile widened, her eyes shining. 'It feels amazing. Like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. We don't have to hide anymore.'

Eric grinned. 'We always knew you'd end up together. In some strange, twisted way, it was inevitable.'

Victoria looked at him, surprised. 'You did?'

Mia laughed. 'Of course! You two always had that spark. It was obvious to everyone, but you two.'

Eric nodded in agreement. 'Remember that time when he covered our chemistry lesson when you couldn't stop staring at him? We thought you were going to blow up the lab.'

Victoria blushed, laughing at the memory. 'I was so obvious, wasn't I?'

Mia shook her head, smiling. 'It's not about being obvious. It's about being real. You guys have something special. We could see it even when you were trying to deny it.'

Victoria looked thoughtful, her smile softening. 'It hasn't been easy. The risks, the secrecy... I was so scared of what might happen.'

Eric reached over, patting her shoulder. 'But you made it through. Together. And now you don't have to be afraid anymore.'

Mia nodded, her expression serious. 'You both have our full support, you know that, right? We're here for you. No matter what.'

Victoria felt a rush of gratitude, tears springing to her eyes. 'Thank you, guys. That means the world to me.'

Eric grinned, his usual playful self. 'Hey, that's what friends are for. Now, what's next for you and Mr Handsome?'

Victoria laughed, wiping away a tear. 'We're going to take it slow. See where life takes us.'

Mia smiled, her eyes twinkling. 'That's smart. No need to rush. Just enjoy each other's company and take things one day at a time.'

Eric nodded sagely. 'And remember, communication is key. Talk to each other, be honest about your feelings. That's how you build a strong relationship.'

Victoria looked at her friends, feeling a warmth in her heart. 'You guys are the best. I couldn't have done this without you.'

Mia shrugged, a playful smile on her lips. 'We're just glad to see you happy, V. You deserve it.'

Eric leaned back, stretching. 'You're eighteen now. You've got your whole life ahead of you. Make the most of it.'

Victoria nodded, feeling a sense of peace settle over her. 'I will. And I'm so glad I have you both by my side.'

They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the morning sun filtering through the windows, casting a warm glow over them. The world outside was moving on, but for the three friends, this moment was a perfect pause. A chance to reflect on how far they'd come and how much they'd grown.

Mia broke the silence, her tone light. 'So, any plans for the summer? Besides spending every waking moment with Alec, of course.'

Victoria laughed, shaking her head. 'We'll see. But I'm definitely looking forward to some relaxation and just enjoying life.'

Eric nodded, a mischievous glint in his eyes. 'Sounds good. Just promise us one thing.'

'Anything.' Victoria said, her smile widening.

'Don't forget about us when you're off having your epic romance.' Eric said, feigning a dramatic tone.

Victoria laughed, feeling a surge of affection for her friends. 'I could never forget about you guys. You're stuck with me for life.'

Mia grinned. 'Good. Because we're not going anywhere either.'

They shared a group hug, the bond between them stronger than ever. No matter what the future held, they knew they'd face it together, with laughter, love, and unwavering support.

As they pulled apart, Victoria felt a sense of excitement and anticipation for what was to come. With Alec by her side and her friends cheering her on, she was ready to take on the world. And for the first time in a long time, she felt truly free.
