The next day, Mr Reed found himself unexpectedly covering Victoria's history class. As he entered the classroom, he couldn't help but notice her sitting near the front, her gaze meeting his with a knowing look. The tension between them was palpable, and Mr Reed struggled to maintain his composure as he began the lesson.
Throughout the lesson, Victoria seemed to go out of her way to catch Mr Reed's attention, asking questions and making comments that were just a little too flirty to be innocent. Despite his best efforts to ignore her advances, Mr Reed found himself smiling involuntarily whenever their eyes met.
At one point, Victoria raised her hand, a mischievous glint in her eye. 'Mr Reed, could you come over here for a second?' she asked, her voice dripping with flirtation.
Mr Reed hesitated for a moment, trying to ignore the tension between them. 'Of course, Victoria. What do you need help with?' he replied, making his way over to her desk.
As he leaned in to listen to her question, he couldn't help but notice the way her hair fell in loose waves around her face, or the way her eyes sparkled with mischief. He cleared his throat, trying to focus on the task at hand.
'Um... I was just wondering if you could help me with this question.' Victoria said, her voice softening lightly as she leaned in closer to him.
Mr Reed felt his heart rate increase as he tried to keep his composure. 'Mhm. I'd be happy to help.' he replied, trying to ignore the way her proximity was affecting him.
As he explained the question to her, their conversation seemed to linger longer than necessary, both of them reluctant to break the spell they had created. But eventually, Mr Reed forced himself to step away, returning to the front of the classroom to continue the lesson.
As the class drew to a close, Mr Reed couldn't shake the feeling that he needed to say something to Victoria before she left. 'Victoria, wait.' he called out, his voice betraying a hint of nervousness.
She turned to face him, a curious look on her face. 'What's up, Mr Reed?' she asked, her tone playful.
Mr Reed took a deep breath, gathering his courage. 'I just wanted to say that I think you have a lot of potential.' he said, his voice sincere. 'I know you're not a fan of sports, but I really think if you gave it a chance, you could be great.'
Victoria studied him for a moment, a small smile playing at the corner of her lips. 'I'll give it a try.' she replied, her tone teasing. 'But I can't promise anything.'
Mr Reed couldn't help but smile back at her, his heart racing with anticipation. As she walked away, he couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something special between them. He watched her go, knowing that he couldn't wait to see where this unexpected connection would lead.
