Victoria and Alec sat on the couch, the air cool and refreshing after a long, tense day. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over everything, and then the world felt momentarily at peace.

Victoria leaned her head against Alec's shoulder, sighing softly. 'I really needed this.'

Alec wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer. 'Yeah, it's a nice evening. Perfect for unwinding.'

They sat in comfortable silence for a while, watching the sun dip below the horizon. Finally, Alec broke the silence, his voice gentle. 'Victoria, I know things have been really tough lately. With your mum and everything.'

Victoria nodded, her eyes on the fading light. 'It's been hard. I feel like I'm constantly caught in the middle. I want to make her happy, but I can't give you up.'

Alec squeezed her shoulder reassuringly. 'You shouldn't have to choose between us. I know your mum loves you and wants what's best for you, but I also know that what we have is real and worth fighting for.'

Victoria turned to look at him, her eyes filled with emotion. 'I know. And I want to fight for us, Alec. You make me happy. I just wish my mum could see that.'

'She will.' Alec said firmly. 'In time, she will. We just have to be patient and keep showing her that we're serious about each other.'

Victoria smiled faintly, her heart swelling with love for him. 'You're right. Patience. It's just so hard sometimes.'

Alec brushed a strand of hair from her face, his touch tender. 'I know. But we have something special, Vic. Something worth waiting for.'

Victoria reached up, placing her hand over his. 'I love you. More than anything.'

Alec's eyes softened, and he leaned in to kiss her gently. 'I love you. And I want to be with you. No matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes. I want us to be together.'

Victoria felt tears welling up in her eyes at his words. She wrapped her arms around him, holding him tightly. 'Thank you. That means a lot.'

Alec held her close, his heart full. 'We'll get through this, Vic. Together. And one day, your mum will see what we see. She'll see how much we love each other and how good we are together.'

Victoria nodded, her tears spilling over but a smile on her face. 'I believe that too. And with you by my side, we can face anything.'

They sat there for a while longer, wrapped in each other's arms, drawing strength from their love and commitment. The world around them faded away, leaving only the two of them and the promise of a future together.

After a while, Alec pulled back slightly to look at her, his eyes full of sincerity. 'Victoria, I want you to know that no matter what happens, I'll always be here for you. You're the most important person in my life.'

Victoria smiled, her heart overflowing with love. 'And you're the most important person in mine. Thank you, Alec. For everything.'

Alec kissed her forehead, his lips lingering. 'I wouldn't want to be anything else.'

As the night settled in and the starts began to twinkle above them, Victoria knew that they were on the right path. With Alec's unwavering support and their deep love for each other, they could overcome any obstacle. Together, they were unstoppable.

And in that moment, under the vast, starry sky, Victoria felt a profound sense of peace. She had Alec, and that was all she needed. Everything else would fall into place in time. They had each other, and that was enough.
