Alec had been planning this visit for weeks. He wanted to take Victoria, Valeria, and Luca back to where it all began. The high school where he still worked at as a PE teacher. As they pulled up to the familiar building, Alec felt a wave of nostalgia. Victoria held his hand, sensing his thoughts.
'Ready to walk down memory lane?' Victoria asked, smiling warmly.
'Absolutely.' Alec replied, giving her hand a squeeze.
Valeria, a spirited four year old with her mother's eyes, bounced excitedly as she got out of the car. Luca, a two year old bundle of energy, held onto Alec's leg, his eyes wide with curiosity.
'Is this where you and mummy met?' Valeria asked, looking up at her father.
'It sure is, sweetheart.' Alec said, lifting Luca onto his hip. 'This place has a lot of special memories for us.'
As they walked towards the gymnasium, they spotted Mr Wilson standing by the entrance. His face lit up with a smile as he saw them approaching.
'Well, well, if it isn't the Reed's.' Mr Wilson said chuckling. 'And who are these little ones?'
'Mr Wilson, meet Valeria and Luca.' Victoria said, beaming with pride. 'Guys, this is Mr Wilson. He's an old friend of mommy and daddy's.'
'Hello, Mr Wilson.' Valeria said politely, while Luca waved shyly from his father's arms.
'Hello, young lady.' Mr Wilson said, kneeling down to Valeria's level. 'And you must be Luca. My, how time flies.'
Before long, Mia and Eric arrived. Their faces lit up at the sight of the family.
'Hey, look who's here!' Mia exclaimed, hugging Victoria. 'And look at these cuties!'
'Uncle Eric!' Valeria squealed, running to Eric, who lifted her up with a laugh.
'Hey there, Val.' Eric said, twirling her around. 'You're getting so big.'
Mr Wilson chuckled, shaking his head. 'It's hard to believe you two started here, with all the chaos that followed.'
'Chaos is an understatement.' Alec said, grinning. 'We put you through a lot, didn't we?'
'Just a bit.' Mr Wilson replied, laughing. 'But look at you now. Married with two beautiful kids. It was all worth it.'
They moved to a shaded bench near the playground. Mr Wilson and Eric sat down with Valeria and Luca, while Victoria and Mia caught up nearby.
'So, Valeria and Luca, do you want to hear about how your parents met?' Mr Wilson asked, his eyes twinkling.
'Yes, please!' Valeria said, clapping her hands.
'Well, it wasn't easy.' Eric began. 'Your dad was a teacher here, and your mum was a student. It was a bit of a tricky situation.'
'Tricky?' Valeria asked, tilting her head.
'Very tricky.' Mr Wilson said. 'But your parents loved each other very much. They had to overcome a lot of obstacles to be together.'
'Like what?' Luca asked, his curiosity piqued.
'For starters, they had to keep their relationship a secret.' Eric said, smiling at Alec and Victoria. 'But love has a way of finding its path, no matter what.'
'And your dad was very determined.' Mr Wilson added. 'He knew your mum was the one for him, even when it wasn't easy.'
Alec joined the group, wrapping an arm around Victoria. 'It was tough, but we knew it was worth it. And now, we have you two, and we wouldn't change a thing.'
'Your parents are an inspiration.' Mia said, smiling at the kids. 'They showed us that love can overcome any obstacle.'
Valeria looked up at Alec and Victoria with wide eyes. 'You must really love each other.'
'We do.' Victoria said, kissing Alec's cheek. 'More than anything.'
'Ew, gross!' Valeria said, giggling, while Luca clapped his hands.
'Hey, you'll understand someday.' Alec said, laughing. 'For now, just know that we love you both very much.'
They spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the school, reminiscing about old times and sharing laughs. Alec took them to the gym, where he still taught PE, showing Valeria and Luca some of his favourite games. Mr Wilson watched them with a smile, turning to Mia and Eric.
'You know, sometimes the most imposible loves end up being the strongest.' Mr Wilson said, his voice filled with admiration.
Eric nodded, smiling. 'They're real life proof of that. It's great to see them so happy.'
As the sun began to set, they gathered outside the school, the sky painted with hues of orange and pink.
'Thank you for today.' Victoria said, hugging Mr Wilson. 'It's been wonderful.'
'Always a pleasure.' Mr Wilson replied, patting Alec on the back. 'You two have done well. Keep it up.'
'We will.' Alec said, smiling at his family. 'We certainly will.'
As they walked back to their car, Valeria looked up at Alec. 'Daddy, can we come here again?'
'Of course, sweetheart.' Alec said, lifting her up. 'Anytime you want.'
'And maybe next time, mummy won't kiss daddy.' Valeria added, wrinkling her nose.
'Hey, I can't make any promises.' Victoria said, laughing.
They all laughed together, their hearts full. The day had been a beautiful reminder of their journey, the love that had brought them together, and the family they had built. It was a day they would cherish forever, a testament to the strength of their love and the joy of their life together.
