'Because...' Alec sighs.

'Because what?' Victoria stares at him.

Alec stepped closer, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity. 'I love you, Victoria! Do you hear me? I love you. This isn't just a mistake to me. You mean everything to me. And I'm not going to let this destroy us.'

Victoria's breath caught in her throat, her anger and hurt momentarily eclipsed by the force of his words. 'Alec... I...'

He cut her off, his voice rising. 'You think this is easy for me? You think I wanted any of this to happen like this? But I can't change how I feel. I love you, and I can't stand seeing you like this, blaming me for everything.'

Victoria stood there, her heart pounding, his words crashing over her like a wave. Without another thought, she ran to him, throwing her arms around his neck and pressing her lips to his in a desperate, passionate kiss.

Alec responded immediately, his arms wrapping around her, pulling her close. The intensity of their kiss deepened, their pent up emotions pouring out. They stumbled back onto the couch, their hands roaming, needing to feel each other, to erase the pain and confusion, if only for a moment.

Victoria's fingers tangled in Alec's hair as he trailed kisses down her neck, murmuring her name between breaths. 'Victoria.... God, I love you.'

She pulled him closer, their bodies pressed together, their kisses growing more urgent. 'I love you too, Alec. I do.'

Their words became a heated exchange of passion and desperation, their argument forgotten in the heat of the moment. The world outside ceased to exist as they lost themselves in each other, their connection a lifeline amid the chaos.

As they lay there, tangled together on the couch, their breaths finally slowing, Alec looked into Victoria's eyes, his expression a mix of love and determination. 'We'll get through this, Vic. No matter what. We'll face it together.'
