ᴏɴᴇ ᴅᴀʏ ʟᴀᴛᴇʀKirah eyes slowly opened up as she squinted her eyes in the dark hospital room.
It was pretty dark, considering the fact that the curtains were electronically pushed closed up.
Only thing being seen was the light from the tv that was hanging up on the wall. And that was playing rerun episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-air.
Kirah averted her eyes around the room when her eyes stopped on Carter.
She was sitting in one of the comfy chairs, sleeping with their children in each of her arms. They were also sleeping very peacefully.
The sight alone made her heart melt but also get a bit emotional.
She tried to keep quiet but her sniffing ended up waking Carter up.
Her eyes opened up, showing completely redness as she looked directly at Kirah.
She slowly got up and sat the twins down in the hospital bassinets for them.
She limped and groaned a bit but made her to Kirah's bedside.
"W-what's wrong, baby?" She asked softly grabbing her hand
She shook her head, "I'm sorry."
"Sorry for what? What are you apologizing for?"
"All of this that's been happening—
"No baby." She shook her head, "Don't apologize because you didn't do anything wrong."
"I thought I was never going to see you again. You scared the shit outta me last night." Carter added touching her cheek
Kirah frowned, "Me? Carter do you think I'm stupid? Who the hell shot you?"
"It's irrelevant, not important right now—
"Carter—
"It's getting handled as we speak. Dead it, Kirah." She said sternly but that just caused Kirah to tear up
"Did I almost lose you?" She asked
Carter sighed feeling the need to stop dodging and lying to her.
"H-how did you get out? What happened to your cases?"
"Kennedy's were thrown out due to the lack of evidence."
"And Ishmail's?"
"I got bail. He didn't show up to the court, something about him not feeling safe sound me. Bullshit." She waved it off
"How much was your bail?"
"Twenty five."
"Twenty five?" Kirah raised an eyebrow
"Twenty five thousand." Carter chuckled at her confusion before coughing
Kirah frowned before patting the empty spot in her bed, "Come sit down next to me."
