An alarm rings next to the bed. Mary groans as she rises herself up from the comfort of her bed. Her alarm clock. She hates the sound of it.
Grabbing it, taking a close look at it.
11am.
What a long sleep she had. Nothing that doesn't seem to bother her. Annoyed, going through a headache due to that loud sound from that tool, she chooses to press stop. But misses it. Her eyes are too closed to take a better look at time.
Laying herself back to bed, covering all of herself with the blanket. Around her room, not so tidy. A spider crawling next to the window. Her window. Her table is filled with batteries, a watch, and a photo, with a guy next to her. A guy who looks exactly like her age the time this photo was taken. Some clothes on the floor. She didn't bother to pick them up. Besides the situation this whole world is in now. No need for someone to tell her.
The alarm rings again. She delayed the time for 11:30. A much longer sleep. Raising her head again, wanting to take a look at it once more. More annoyed than ever, she grabs the alarm clock, raising it on top of the room, before throwing it. The sound disappears. Easily falling back asleep.
A vibration, at the top of her head. This completely wakes her up. Destroying her peaceful sleep.
"Who the fuck could that be?" She grabs the item under her pillow, the one her head is on top of. Looking at her phone. Revealing a background image of nothing but a rainbow colour. In there...
'House inspection... today.' Not liking it. She never liked those 'house inspectors' barging into her house, taking a look around, including doing COVID tests on her. She rather do it herself but, orders are orders.
The house inspectors have been around ever since a dangerous COVID variant hit the entire world, causing everyone to isolate in their houses, hoping there's a vaccine that could stop it. But none of the vaccines, even ones scientists have tested ever done good. It only caused serious illness. From there, the world became an apocalypse of its own. Along with soldiers around the country, on roads, outside of shops or takeaways, the government created a section filled with House Inspectors, to carry out inspection checks to ensure citizens are living in clean hygiene, are covid free, the house is in a safe, stable condition and that there isn't anything that prove to cause any illness to an individual. If the house is in a safe, stable condition and has clean hygiene, along with a negative covid result, then individuals are good. If the house is not safe or has terrible hygiene, then the house inspectors may have to come to the house the next day to ensure a warning isn't ensured. Mary didn't seem bothered about it. She prefers to stay in her own home.
A home that is nothing but garbage.
The house inspector for this neighbourhood is on his way. In 30 minutes. Groaning angrily, she removes the blanket away from her. Mary is wearing a short sleeve shirt, featuring the word ACDC, one of the most popular rock bands in the 80s. One she loved listening to as a child. There were other songs she loved listening too such as pop, rap and reggae but none has ever reached the power of rock. Christian rock is included in her playlist. Along with a ACDC short sleeve shirt, she's wearing loose fitting trousers.
Walking into the bathroom, just by her room. The bathroom has brown stains all over. Probably lasted for weeks. She made sure there were no ants that may be crawling up into her. That's the worst nightmare she has ever had.
Taking off all her clothes and loose fitting trousers for sleeping, rotating the switch, water coming out of the shower pipe. Letting the water go to her. Warm, hot water. What a comfy feeling. Rubbing her body with the warm hot water, making her body comfortable with the water pouring all over her. Reaching the L'OREAL shampoo. One of her favourite shampoos. Squeezing it onto her hand before rubbing in on her hair. All of it. Rubbing and rubbing until the shampoo has finished its effect. Grabbing the soap, rubbing it all around her body with the water assisting her along the way before putting it away.
