A Forest Journey

Letting go, her eyes open up. It's daytime. Having been asleep in the forest for a while. Hiding in a tunnel with campfires to keep her warm.

The fire is gone, having served its purpose. Not as dizzy as she used to be the moment she wakes up before, she raises herself, kicking the woods out of her sight as the ash flies away from the top. She walks out of the tunnel. It seems to have been raining for a while.

But the rain stopped. She can feel water dropping from the leaves hanging from the tree. Pushing her hand forward, letting the water drop at her palm, she clenches her hand, feeling the cold water. An amazing feeling.

Getting to the tunnel took her almost an hour to get by. Gaining woods and fire to keep herself warm was something that was considered incredibly difficult for her. Having to go all around the trees with Abigail's flashlight. Thankfully there hasn't been any animals around the area. Nothing dangerous that may choose to jump at her.

The moment she found some wood, she carries them with both of her hands, needing lots of wood to keep the fire going. Placing them in one place, covering them with rocks all around, not wishing to get herself burned by it. Grabbing her lighter, opening it before putting it close to the small wood that will accompany the fire. The fire lit, making her feel warm in her tunnel.

Now having gone by many hours, possibly afternoon due to the amount of time she slept, she remembers what she needs to do. She doesn't have a map to guide her, having only remembered the location through her Google Maps. Having strong memory is something she keeps in her head. What she did bring was some white blank sheet of paper.

Placing it on a rock, holding her pen, placing some food next to her as she draws where she needs to go. Drawing it carefully, taking a bit of bread rolls and shoving a piece of it into her mouth. Drawing is one of Mary's favourite habits. She loves to draw anything she sees or has been to. Anything that comes to her mind, she immediately takes it on a paper. Her drawing usually contains 3D models of the view or a person. Most of her drawings mostly feature Joseph, who she really misses.

Tapping the pencil in her head before returning her attention to the paper, trying to remember where the Light might be in. Tracing by following the lines she has made based on the trees, the mountains and most of all, the waterfall.

Lasting for half an hour, she finishes it. Coming outside, looking what's in front of her and comparing it to her drawing only filled with ink. The tracks are similar. According to her calculations, this would take her a couple of days, not for a week, by estimation, two days to reach the waterfall.

Thinking about the waterfall, she begins to wonder more about it. If she does find the waterfall, what would she have to do the moment she finds it. Does she have to jump so that she can find the Light, or climb down. Even if she does find it, there's no way she can back out from it. There may be people looking for her.

Hesitant over the journey. Feeling doubtful for everything she has to do to find that place. Unsure whether she should go back home, just face the consequences over her actions. Over choosing this journey than paying for her first ever warning. A warning she would not be able to repay.

"What am I doing?" She questions herself. The waterfall is too far. She doesn't even know how to hunt for food. She doesn't even think she is able to do this journey.

Sitting herself down, contemplating everything. This is something she shouldn't have been doing.

"It's okay Mary. It's okay." His voice, Joseph's voice. Appearing in her mind. Once again reminding her what she must do.

His voice, continues to speak to her, making her raise herself up slowly. Looking at her bag, she grabs it. Placing it around her bag. She's ready to go. It won't be easy.
