Ding. A sound coming from the microwave. A hand covered in gloves, pulling the microwave door down, holding a tray of corn dogs as the figure walk towards a table.
Sitting beside the table is a woman. Her appearance, the makeup she's wearing.
Leah. The person holding the tray is John. This is their first ever time meeting each other. As well as their first date face to face. Not really a date, just a friendly occasion between two people who are completely strangers and are together to get to know each other.
In the table, a small but lovely feast. Spaghetti, garlic bread and corn dog. Having cooked the whole morning to make this day really special for the both of them. Along with them, a bottle of champagne to pour in their glasses.
Everything all set, they raise their glasses up in the air, tapping their glasses together before drinking the champagne from their glasses.
"Hmm... this is really good." He laughs.
"Thanks. Wanted to find the perfect wine for our first ever meet up. The perfect time for us to know each other better." She laughs back at what he just said.
They begin charging into the food. Taking it in slowly. John really is a good cook. He was able to perfect the recipes for each food. Carefully studying them before putting them on the pans. The result, perfection. She couldn't handle the amazing taste of his food, so much she would rather stay in his place for much longer. Not wanting to leave here. He cooks food better than her.
"So, has Mary responded back?" Stopping him from his track. This isn't the best time to talk about her. Seeing him not holding his kitchen utilities anymore makes her realise she shouldn't have answered it.
"Oh I'm sorry." He looks at her.
"No, no it's okay. Well, I know why my friend isn't answering my calls." Making her wonder why Mary isn't answering his calls.
"Why so?" He doesn't want to answer it. Saying what he's about to say next is enough to make his body freeze.
"Remember the news about a girl who has gone missing." She responds yes to it.
Only to learn to her shock that the missing girl is indeed her. She isn't at home and it's even more worse to the fact that she purposedly left her phone at home. But thinking about it, there might be a reason why Mary chose to leave it at her house.
He doesn't want to talk about it anymore, he just wants to have a good time, he doesn't want to think of Mary that much. He just hopes she is found and brought back home safe. He doesn't care if she gets sent to the quarantine zones, as long as she's safe. Knowing this is something that he doesn't want to talk, nor think about makes Leah understanding over his concerns for his friend. He wants to have an amazing time with her without any problems.
The conversation between the two doesn't become awkward. She would immediately change the subject to something that happened during her secondary school life, regarding a stunt man and a stunt he has done. She revealed that there was this one stunt guy who tried to impress her many times with the amount of stunts he tries to do in front of her. Impressive but the thing is, she wouldn't want to be with a guy who would constantly put himself in danger, just to impress a girl.
She politely declined him asking her out which makes John laugh. It did make the stunt teen heartbroken, he would stop doing stunts all together, having felt like he earned nothing from it, causing him to go on a terrible hygiene and a downward spiral.
It's funny for the both of them but sad at the same time. To the point of refusing to laugh about it. John talks more about himself. Mostly about his troubles, having told her a lot about his dreams for the future. His biggest one was when he was with his mates in the container. He decided to mess around with it.
