"So this is where you last seen her?" Michael asks. They have returned to the location Abigail saw Mary.
"Yeah. She looked really determined to go into the forest." Liam begins to feel unsure about this. Along with the fact that no one has ever been through there before.
Michael looks at him, feeling confused over what he has just said. Seems to appear that Liam knows this forest really well. Like there appears to be some history behind it.
Liam is really keen in learning many locations around the world, including this forest. This forest, it's one he dares not to try come across in Birmingham.
"What do you mean?" Michael becomes confused over Liam's concern.
He talks about its history. The last time someone visited this forest was five years ago. It was basically a family of four. They wanted to go on a field trip together for two days. What they brought with them was their camera, a bunch of rations, lighters and camp equipment such as tents to get themselves settled in.
They should have been back after two days. But they never come out of it. As a result, a huge police raid was sent to find them. Unfortunately, the only thing they were able to find was their items, and their camera.
The police tried to gain access into the camera. The battery was dead. So they came back to police headquarters, bringing in a set of new batteries for the camera to work and what was shown wasn't that much. It didn't bring a lot of evidence that could help them find the family.
The police would continue searching for the family for weeks until they found the youngest child's shoe. Along with it was a finger. No body, just a finger. With that, they had to assume the worst. Still needing to prove it could be any of the family members, they did fingerprints on it.
And it's confirmed, it was the youngest child's finger.
Another one was when two patrollers decided to patrol the forest two years ago as part of their patrols, unfortunately, they never came back. Causing more men to be sent to find them. What they would find were their corpses, along with a another guy who laid next to them.
"Are you thinking this forest is possibly cursed?" He asks. Abigail doesn't seem to believe in this. It's just a normal forest, with some animals roaming around the street.
With the exception of a few wild animals that have proven to be dangerous for any of the three to handle. This is one Abigail doesn't want to face.
He doesn't care. Michael only cares about finding Mary and getting her home. He's hellbent on it, even though Liam is unsure if his friend is up for the tasks due to his mental stability.
Liam knows even if Michael wants to bring Mary back home, he feels he might do the opposite, might go against his father, depending on how bad the situation gets.
"You sure about this?" Abigail asks Liam as they know what they're going to do is something they cannot turn their backs on.
"Seems like we don't have much of a choice." Michael looks at them. Seeing them far behind from him.
"Guys what are you doing?" They both look at him.
"Nothing really, just having a bit of a chat. Hold on we're coming." He doesn't seem to believe them. But chooses to wait.
Having caught up, they take one last look at the entrance of the forest, in front of their eyes. No turning back, they walk straight into it, with all the items and equipment ready, for them to survive their time within those trees.
Within the woods, completely quiet, empty. Ants crawling all around the ground, insects flying around, squirrels and other animals they've come across running past them.
