8. My Lady!

Santosh and Karishma sat at a table near the front desk, the morning rush had just been subdued, and now they had 1 or 1.5 hours for themselves before the lunch rush started.

"I hate going through this every month" Santosh pouted leaning on the table

"Santu, you know it's important to check our monthly inventory and finance" Karishma said smiling at Santosh

"You sometimes talk like a businesswoman, uhh!" Santosh chided

"We are!" Karishma pointed towards the café

"Uhh... but you are looking after all these right? Then why do I have to be here" Santosh said in her childish voice

"Nah baccha! These are not going to work this time" Karishma smiled evilly

A person in his early 30's entered the café, with a bag hanging to his side and an ID card around his neck, in neatly ironed formals, glasses and hair set. He walked to the front counter where Billu was standing too involved in his mobile. Seeing Billu ignoring him, Karishma shouted

"Bille!"

Startled by her thundering voice, Billu dropped his phone and looked at her with fear in his eyes, she motioned towards the customer, and he quickly whispered a sorry and turned towards him

"Sorry sir, what can I get for you?" Billu tried to say in his professional voice but it came out a little shaky, he wiped the sweat off his forehead and smiled at the customer

"Can I meet the owner?" the person said

"Yes" Karishma who listening to their conversation replied, the person turned towards her with a frown

"I am Karishma Singh and this is Santosh Sharma, we are the owners, how can we help you" Both Karishma and Santosh stood up

"Hello mam, I am Viraj Jha, from Singh NGO, we are offering free COVID checkups for everyone. If you allow us, I can perform tests for you and your staff" he passed his card

"No thank you, we are all vaccinated" Karishma said taking his card

"I understand mam, however as you know there has been a surge in covid cases recently and many who are vaccinated are also infected, it's just a safety measure" he tried to convince her

"What do we lose Karu? It's better to be cautious, right?" Santosh tried to convince her to save herself from the boring financial statements, sighing she whispered in Karishma's ear "And how can we say no to someone that handsome!"

"You are engaged, woman!" Karishma whisper-yelled

"Hey, I love Cheeta okay! I am talking for you!" she whisper-yelled back

"Santu" Karishma said sternly and looked at Viraj who was looking at them confused

"Please Karishma madam, it's good for all of us" Billu chipped in

Karishma nodded in agreement, Viraj performed the tests one by one, and after collecting Billu's number to send the results, he said goodbye to everyone and left the café.

As he sat in the car, he quickly dialed Abdul's number and updated the progress, when all his men completed the task of testing others' business beside the café, he moved to the hospital for testing.

Santosh was about to go inside when Karishma pulled her back to the table, making her sit on the chair

"Yaar Karu" she chided

"Don't 'Yaar Karu' me Santu" Karishma passed her the laptop as she went through other bills, finally obliging Santosh start working
