14. A bombshell at the rendezvous

Karishma walked to and fro inside the office which was supposed to be hers in Singh Industries head office. She will be announced as the Chairman soon, and not only that, she will be meeting her long-lost family, Abdul Chacha already warned her against them, 'be careful Karishma beta, they are as deadly as scorpions waiting in the dark to attack.'

She took a deep breath trying to control her fidgeting nerves, she knew she was prepared and Abdul would be taking care of everything, however, she is not a fan of public display, and although she is a people person, she hated to have the spotlight, which is going to happen soon.

Her phone pinged grabbing her attention,

'All the best for today Mi Amor, break a leg'

She smiled reading Haseena's message, she told everyone later that night about the job she took for helping a friend, they had all been very supportive, especially Santosh who with managing her marriage arrangements used to help Karishma around at the café. Haseena has also been an anchor for her, always used to message Karishma first after juggling her tremendous workload and uneven working hours, Karishma is unhinged about Haseena's chaotic sleep schedule, even scolding her at times.

The knock on the door pulled her out of her line of thoughts, Viraj entered wishing her good morning to which she reciprocated, before he could carry on Abdul strode into the room with a big smile

"All the prepared Mam?"

"Ji, Abdul Chacha. I... mean, how should I address you?" asked Karishma confused

"Hmm... as you are the boss, call me by my name mam"

"Arey, please call me Karishma, Chacha. And I can't call you by your name, how about Mr Sheik"

"Hahaha, okay Karishma," Abdul looked at the time, "let's begin the show"

They all strode into the board room, Viraj stood near the door after entering the room, and Abdul guided Karishma to the head of the table. Everyone stood up confused, Karishma walked to the table her head held high, in a Marron pantsuit, with a powder blue shirt hugging her perfectly and the black plumps which clinked with the contact to the marbled floor, every ounce of Karishma screamed confidence, she stood near the table eyeing everyone with a small smile.

"Ladies and Gentleman, I present to you the heir of the Singh empire, the successor and only daughter of Jayesh and Bhumi Singh, Ms. Karishma Singh" Adbul announced with a smirk on his face eyeing everyone who was too stunned to speak

"What's all this Mr. Abdul" Anubhav gritted his teeth, every muscle taut, his eyes blazing fire, "you bring someone and announce them as the heir of Singh Empire and want us to believe it's true," he bitterly eyed at Karishma and Adbul, "we all know uncle and his family died in an accident over twenty years ago, who knows this person is claiming it for money" he sneered at her

Karishma absorbed everyone, trying to read everyone present there, the Singh Industries contains 10 board members, including her aunt Aditi Rathore and Abdul. Her eyes met with Aditi who was also dumbstruck but swiftly studying Karishma. Before Abdul could respond Anubhav Karishma spoke

"I understand your doubts, Mr. Anubhav, we are here with proof," she nodded to Viraj who passed on the results of DNA and other documents of the orphanage, "If you don't believe me, you can test them again, as I believe my aunt is also present here, it'll be easy to get samples" Karishma smiled at Aditi

"So, legally Ms Karishma Singh will be the chairman of Singh Industries" Abdul announced

"Where did you find her?" Anubhav shouted as he felt his dreams shattered
