26. Is it too late now to say sorry?

Karishma was roaming in the kitchen, de-racking the cooling rack, icing the cupcakes while mouthing the lyrics of 'tum ghaye ho kyu' in full blast when Santosh entered the kitchen of the café

"Karu!" She yelled but the music overpowered her voice, shaking her head she turned off the speaker, "what are you doing here?" she frowned

"As today is Sunday, I'll be going in a little late to work. So, I came here coz I am missing this so much" Karishma sighed

"Hmm... Coffee?"

"Yes, please"

Santosh came back with two cups of coffee and sat near the cooling rack beside Karishma,

"You look so tired" Santosh commented observing the growing dark circles under Karishma's eyes

"Hmm... just a few more days and I can take some rest" Karishma sighed sipping her coffee

"Hmm... How are things with Hasu?" Santosh casually asked hoping they reconciled by now

"You know?" Karishma asked wide-eyed

"Hasu came here a few days back; she is concerned about you; I just know that something happened between you two and you two are too strong-headed to talk it through" Santosh said feeling bad that her friends still are not on good terms

"I don't wanna talk about it"

"Tch... don't act like a kid Karu! Silence only increases the distance between you two" Santosh tried to change her mind

"I said some things I shouldn't have but most importantly she said that I should have not created a scene there but you tell me Santu, how can one see the person they love in that situation and stay calm!" Karishma exasperated

"I understand but Hasu is also right, what if something happens to you?"

"Hasu ki chamchi! Tu mera dost hei, mujhe support karna chahiye tha aur tu hei ki Hasu, Hasu karahi hei" Karishma turned to the other side

"Arey meri maa, ab tu naraz matt ho. I'm just saying you should talk to her and explain your point and also try to understand her point" Santosh explained

"There is so much running inside my mind Santu, I'll talk to Haseena after my meeting gets over"

"Don't take a lot of time Karu, this distance is a double-edged sword, you both are getting hurt"

Karishma nodded, after working for a few hours, where the tiring tasks of baking miraculously rejuvenated Karishma, she left for the Singh's head office

Karishma and Meha were in a serious discussion when Viraj busted into the office.

"May I come in?" he asked nearing Karishma and Meha, who sat on the couch at the other end of the room

"I mean... sorry" Viraj sheepishly smiled as both of them rolled their eyes at him, "you would be thrilled to know after knowing what I found out" Viraj shook the papers in his hands before them

Meha pulled them from his hands and went through them, Viraj looked at her smitten, Karishma smiled at the level of authority Viraj gave to Meha and the way his eyes mellowed at the sight of her. As Meha kept reading Viraj spoke to Karishma

"We were able to prove that the shell companies and off-shore accounts are related to Anubhav, we can take him down now!" Viraj spoke excitedly

"Hmm... sometimes I doubt how you got your Law degree" Karishma rolled her eyes
