Chapter 12: Meet The Astral Chimera

The hybrid creature moves through the laboratory, scanning the environment and notices that I'll survive despite the change of the atmospheric change. It moves through the files. For a creature, it's quite intelligent and considered the joker of the seven monsters because it could possess and manipulate the human mind to do its bidding at any time.

      It's late at night, it walks through the laboratory, it doesn't leave an inch unseen. Finally it reaches the entrance and it's aware of the scientists that work within the firm.

        Void and Vexis didn't notice but the lab cameras did. Zephyr happened to be in charge of the security and visuals at the new firm. From his house, his phone beeps. His eyes see something on his phone screen, a new video. He clicks on it, he can't see it properly, he zooms in and he notices the face of the creature.

       His bewildered facial expression made one thing clear, he'd never seen anything like this before. His mind ran through the midst of his thoughts, "what is that? Where'd it come from?". He exhaled and he called his friend, Xander.

      Xander picks up the phone, "Zephyr? It's unusual of you to call this late, what's up?"

      He replied, "Xander something came up, I got a video from the lab and I wanted you to take a good look at it with your team. Contact your father if you have to, if you can, that is… just zoom in and tell me what you think."

        Xander responded, "alright, I will." Xander received the video a few minutes later, he clicked on it. He's also surprised at the creature he saw. "Luna, come take a look at this! This creature!" Elysium heard him scream and ran to him, she stared at the phone in disgust.

     Luna stared at it and asked, "isn't the joker of the seven? The astral being?" Xander's eyes widened after the statement. He just reflected on his father's words.

     "Yes, that's it. It's the Astral Chimera. The shapeshifter, how did it get in there? Someone must have opened the portal but who?" His eyes stay still, "Void."

       It's 10:30 pm and the crew at the igloo are still in shock at the new development of things. Xander sits by his computer, he feels sleepy but he doesn't accept it. Elysium watches from afar and she asks, "Scientists don't rest? You should get to bed if you really want your hands on that thing from the video."

        He replied, "I'm okay and I don't want a thing from that lab as long as that portal's open." He turned his laptop off, walked away to his room after giving his mother a kiss on her cheek. Elysium watched him walk up the stairs to his room.

       Xander drops his laptop on the table, he falls on the bed like a bag of salt. His eyes are about to close up but he feels a cold, he turned around and he stared at the room. His eyes scanned the environment, he shut his eyes.

         When he opened his eyes, he noticed the walls of his room had changed. He sat up, he walked down the stairs but he didn't see anyone around him rather he saw pieces of human flesh around the kitchen and the sitting room. He veered around and saw the Astral Chimera eating the head of his mother. His eyes stared at the scene in complete amazement.

       His eyes open, it's 9:45 am. It was just a dream. He took a peek at his phone, and Zephyr already called thrice. He breathes heavily, still under the scare effect of the nightmare.

       Mara walked through the door, "Xander, don't go to the lab today. Dad said so. He said until the Astral Chimera is caught, you shouldn't be at the lab. Aurora warned too." He wasn't planning on doing that at all, he nodded. She stared at him, "did you have a nightmare?" She asked.

       "Yes but it's not that deep, it's just the Astral Chimera. I saw it kill everyone and it ate mom's head. I don't think any of us should have interest in that being." Luna agreed.

       Astrid walked in on the two of them, she had her phone on her right ear. "Xander, it's Zephyr. He needs you now." Xander took the phone and stayed silent.

      Zephyr whispered, "don't come to the lab. If you do and you see any of the scientists, don't trust them. Don't trust any of them until we drive this creature off our earth and back to its freaking planet. It possessed one of us, it's more intelligent than I thought."

       "Who did it possess? When?"

     "It possessed Professor Felix Cosmos, the next in command after Doctor Evergreen. He's been acting strange." Xander sips his cup of sweetened coffee.

      "uhm, Zephyr, that man already had an insane part of him showcased every now and then at the lab. What's the big deal now?"

     "I'm serious Xander, he walked up to every computer and he searched each and everyone of them thoroughly before he walked out of the lab. He's onto something but I can't really tell what it is. The creature took over and now it's affecting his thinking. His behavior changed too fast."

         "So now you are saying he's normal? You know what? Let's glance through the videos you sent. I'll get back to you, you should leave the lab immediately before it gets to you. My dad said it could enter anyone's body without warning."

        Zephyr replied, "alright, I'll reach out to you later."

          Xander gulps the least amount of coffee down his throat after hanging up.

        Zephyr sits quietly at the office, he keeps his guard up. He sent his dad a text about the creature. Void already knew about it and he avoided the text and the lab.

      Zephyr sees Professor Felix on his computer, he walks away and runs out of the lab. He already warned Orion about it.
