Chapter 37: Luna Finds The Nebula

It's 11:45pm, Luna's up late. She couldn't sleep. First she walked downstairs to get a cup of warm milk and cookies. After a few minutes, she figured out the late night snack wasn't the cause of her mild insomnia. She strolled around the house, then she looked through some files. She was restless, her skin felt uncomfortable for her.

          Her mind picked up signals from the night skies, it's never happened like this before. She took her phone and her telescope to the balcony, set it up and peeped through it. She saw a shadow move. She moved back afraid of what it was.

          She moved closer to the telescope again, she dropped her phone this time and peeped again with one eye. She stared at the creature she saw, it was bright and it had a shadow. It had a strange brightness to it, it flew through the space atmosphere. She removed her face and stared at the night sky.

          She took her phone in her hands and she sent a text to Zephyr. He called her, "Where did you see it? Where are you? How did it get in? I know what you are talking about. My dad too, it's a creature. It's called the Nebula Phantom. It's bright but it exudes great power. How did it get in?"

           "I don't know, I saw Xander leave earlier this evening, he created a portal but this portal wasn't like the usual. It was more like a portal to another earth realm and from what I've studied and noticed. Those portals are stronger than the usual ones. I guess it passed through when he moved."

         "It's the energy, it hit him hard. He thought it'll be proper to leave earth to where? And why? If at all, what earth realm?"

        "He said something earth HZ."

      "HZ? Why? What? Luna… you should get inside now. That being could sense a stronger heartbeat from a hundred miles, it's the most extraordinary amongst the seven."

        "Alright, I'll talk to you later." She walked through the door and locked it. She dropped the telescope after she dismantled the tripod stand. She sat on her bed, she felt dizzy. Finally.

         She hit the bed, she slept off. Her phone beeped, voice messages and text messages all from Zephyr.

         Luna fell into a deep dream state, her eyes opened. She saw a woman, it looked like she absorbed energy from the nebula phantom. She glowed with light and power, Luna moved closer to her, she wanted to place her hand on her shoulder. The woman disappeared. Suddenly she saw herself fall into a black hole.

         Zephyr waited for her reply but understood she was asleep by her silence. He dropped his phone and dived on the bed, he stared at the ceiling till his eyes closed.

        He felt his tummy hurt, he tried to ignore the disturbance for about ten minutes. He tossed his body on the bed, left and right. He sat up, he couldn't take it anymore. He knew he wasn't ulcer positive, he suspected his appetite increased even more as he walked out. He cooked up some cereal at first, but he wasn't satisfied. He chose to make some rice and sauce with chicken.

        He made pancakes and took some syrup along with it. It made him full, by now the time was 3:33am. He sat for a while, he blinked his eyes and noticed a strange light pass through. He turned in shock, he ran upstairs to his room. He locked his door and covered himself in thick clothes from his closet, he jumped on his bed. He covered himself with three blankets, shoot! He forgot he didn't lock his window. He jumped up and locked it right.

       He covered himself again, he stopped moving. He saw a light move close to his window, it looked fairly light. He stayed calm, he looked through the light blanket and stayed calm. The light ball tried to open the window, lucky for him he locked it. It saw him run.

        He remembered when his dad always told him stories of the Nebula Phantom when he was a kid. How it could follow the person miles after, it always came at night. It hid itself during the day.

      After a while, he heard a voice emerge from it. He stayed silent, if he could make his own ears deaf he would have. Finally it left after Zephyr snubbed it.

         Zephyr slept off.

     It's 10:08am, His eyes are open. He felt a bit dizzy, he yawned and stretched on his bed. He reached the edge of the bed, his vision cleared. He noticed his phone was filled with missed calls and text messages from Luna.

        He answered them all, and still he felt hungry. He didn't understand his insatiable appetite, the glutton he never was aroused from within. He walked straight to the bathroom, he brushed his teeth. He saw something as he brushed, he stared at the mirror. He saw a change in his appearance, and his beard started growing. His eyes changed color, it turned lighter.

         His veins were more pronounced than before, he rinsed his toothbrush and his mouth. He walked away to his closet, he took out his clothes and wore them.

          He walked downstairs, he ate his food. He answered his phone as he did that. He drove till he got to the lab. He walked through the laboratory as it rained lightly. He saw his father waiting for him at his desk.

         "Zephyr, I've been waiting for you."
