"A therapist?" Rylin laughed at her best friend. "Why would I need therapy?" she asked.

"You were literally kidnapped by Maddie's crazy ex-husband." Eddie said. "How are you not affected by this?"

"I wasn't even supposed to be there." Rylin shrugged, taking a sip of her iced tea. "Look, I get you're worried about me, but I'm fine."

"The second you don't feel fine, you call that number I gave you." Eddie said.

Rylin was grateful for Eddie's concern, but she really was fine. It didn't affect her as much as it probably should have because she knew none of this would've happened if she hadn't even stepped foot inside Maddie's apartment that night. Or at least that's what she thought.

"Okay, Dad." Rylin laughed.

"Are you sure you're even ready to go back to work, though?" Eddie continued. "I mean, you were literally shot."

"I was cleared to go back to work." Rylin said. "So, yeah, I'm ready."

"Please, you basically begged the doctors on your hands and knees to discharge you 4 days early." Eddie said.

"I hate hospitals. You knew this already." Rylin said. "And, the stitches were taken out last week when I was cleared. Besides, if I have to sit on my couch for another day, I think I might go crazy."

"You sit on your couch all the time." Eddie laughed.

Rylin rolled her eyes. "Yeah, but at least I was able to go to work."

"Look, I appreciate your concern, but I promise, I'm fine. Now, I won't be fine if I'm not at the station in 20 minutes." she said as she grabbed her bag from the floor, ready to get to work.

"Promise?" Eddie asked.

"Pinky promise." Rylin said as she held out her pinky with a big smile on her face. Eddie laughed at his best friend as they made a pinky promise.

"Okay, everybody, we are in Tactical Emergency Mode." Bobby said as the team made their way down the stairs. "That means we will not be at the station today. We will be driving all around the district to make sure that we are ready for anything that comes our way."

"Cap, you do realize we work here, right?" Hen asked as they got into the engine. "We're trained professionals, not fifth-graders."

"Yeah, right?" Buck laughed.

"I don't think she was talking about you." Rylin joked as she sat besides Buck in the engine.

"Hey, Cap, you ever seen a breakdown like this before?" Eddie asked.

"Once in St. Paul." Bobby said. "Blizzard took out the power grid around the call center and backup generator."

"I've been through, like, three of these." Hen said. "I'm surprised they don't happen more often, the way the city funds us. The Department's held together by chewing gum and spit."
