Knock, knock
“Come in.” Charlotte called out absentmindedly with her head still bowed down at the table. On her table were reports of Ausome’s sales performances as well as stacks of files she had to review. She was wearing a pair of spectacles as she read through them seriously, her mind still running with numbers.
Suddenly, she felt a presence near her and two hands massaging her shoulders. Startled, she looked up at the gentle face of her girlfriend. The confusion on her face bloomed into a happy smile, she exclaimed,
“Fa!”
Engfa lifted her hand to rub the top of her head. She half sat on the table and softly said, “It’s already 8pm, bee. Nuay said you haven’t eaten.”
“It’s already 8?” Charlotte blinked and glanced at her watch. She grimaced and looked at Engfa with a guilty face, she mumbled, “I didn’t notice na.”
The older woman huffed helplessly and pulled her up from her chair. Charlotte stood between her legs and wrapped her arms around her neck while her own arms were around her petite waist. “I know you tend to forget about the time when you worked, but you can’t skip meals, Char. Come, I’m taking you out for dinner.”
“Isn’t Fa busy?” Char asked happily and leaned their faces closer.
“Not busy enough to neglect you.” Engfa grinned and flirted. She was rewarded with a giggle and a kiss. She then rubbed her girlfriend’s waist and pulled her closer for another kiss. “It’s your birthday tomorrow, Char.”
“30 years old….am I old, Fa?”
Engfa shook her head and looked at her lover’s sweet face. Charlotte still had the young and mischievous face from years ago, but her eyes were expressive with maturity.
“No, you look as beautiful as ever. Let’s go, you must be hungry.”
“Now that you mentioned it.” Charlotte grinned as she packed her things in her work bag, intending to continue at home. Seeing her actions, Engfa took the bag from her hands and left it on the chair. Without another word, she took Charlotte’s hand and dragged her out. The younger woman exclaimed, “Wait, P’Fa. I need to bring them back home.”
“We’re not going home tonight.” Engfa said resolutely and led her through the back door.
“We’re not?” Char frowned as she followed obediently next to her girlfriend.
“Are you planning to work until the clock strikes 12?“ Engfa raised an eyebrow which made Charlotte immediately shake her head. The older woman’s lips tugged into a smirk before she praised, “Good.”
Just like that, Charlotte was brought to her girlfriend’s BMW and placed in the passenger seat. Engfa entered the driver’s place and drove them away from Central World.
“Where are we going, Fa?” Charlotte looked at her handsome girlfriend in her full suit, the other woman smiled at her and winked.
“You’ll see, bee.”
They drove in comfortable silence, Charlotte even fell asleep in the car after a long day. Her hand was still touching her girlfriend’s arm as she slept.
When they arrived, Engfa, who initially wanted to pass her car to the valet, drove into the parking lot personally. She gently pulled her arm out of Charlotte’s loose grip before touching her girlfriend’s delicate face.
“Char, we’re here.”
Her girlfriend’s eyes fluttered open in confusion before landing on Engfa’s ever gentle eyes. “Where are we?” Char mumbled while rubbing her eyes, she looked around and saw they were in a carpark.
