Chapter 6
Garrett and Noah wandered the bridges, swinging them side to side too fast and doing more than enough that should have to make the bridges fall. They held firm and the sun rose to the middle of the sky, the warmth making the hatchings start to sweat.
A burst of wind almost threw the two off the side of the bridge, a screech rang through the air.
The bridge tilted too much, already propelled by the motion from Garrett and Noah messing around and the wind blew it to the side.
A yell tore itself from Garrett's throat and Noah screamed.
The two grabbed the metal bridge's side. A screech tore through the air and the two boys settled against the bridge as it rocked to a stop.
"Heh, you scream like a girl." Garrett grinned.
Garrett bolted to the ladder as Noah chased him. Garrett laughed looking back at his friend before jumping down the ladder. It wasn't that tall, only 2 meters, Garrett sunk to his knees and sprinted to the unicorns, thudding came from behind him and Cerulean ran ahead of him, her hoofs drumming the ground as she screeched and shot lightning at a tree.
Garrett could see Cliff Shaker galloping toward them and the drumming echoed through his chest, he laughed with glee. Noah called Cliff Shaker from behind the two. Garrett could see the girl and boy from the line walking to the Eyrie, "SORRY!" The boy called, The girl was the rider of the silver, and the boy was the kid who'd yelled at a wild unicorn.
Eventful group, definitely wasn't gonna be trouble for them later.
" 'S fine!" Garrett called over his shoulder. "Wanna beat them?" Garrett asked Cerulean, who tossed her mane and shrieked, slowing to a fast trot. Garrett grinned ignoring the burning in his cheeks from his wide smile and ran even further.
Hoof thudded, rapidly catching up, "Good luck with that city boy!" Noah's hands were buried in Cliff Shakers already messed up mane, Noah urged him to slow down. Noah's back was straight and he looked right at home riding a bloodthirsty unicorn with blood on his muzzle.
Noah guided Garrett through getting on Cerulean Tempest, and once he decided Garrett was doing well bolted down the dirt path with his unicorn, leaving Garrett precariously balanced on Ceruleans back trying to get his leg over the -now pony sized- unicorn. Cerulean decided she'd had enough of her rider pathetically trying to get on her back and reared throwing the young rider back.
"Hey!" Garrett wheezed. "Com'on!" Garrett whined. Did he really have to ask his uni-. Garrett groaned his annoyance, seeming to deflate some. Swallowing his pride to try to regain some he opened his mouth. "Can I ride you?" Cerulean stared at him until he felt stupid.
Garrett walked to her side and hopped up again, balancing on his stomach, Garrett hooked his leg on her other side pulling his weight onto her back. Cerulean stared at him incredulously, for a moment.
And another.
And another.
And another.
Cerulean looked at Garrett, Garrett looked at Cerulean hands resting in her mane. "So are we gonna gO!" Cerulean reared and screeched, flapping her wings and almost throwing Garrett off. Cerulean landed and, as Garrett clung for dear life to her mane, galloped down the path. Garrett hollered with delight, Cerulean's roar matching his own. Cerulean sped down the path faster than Garrett could have ever hoped to match. The two followed tracks that were probably Cliff Shakers.
Garrett grinned as he recalled the hunting tutorials he'd seen with his brother and bits he'd read in random books. Despite the speed the Rider and Unicorn passed the tracks, Garrett saw them become closer together, and he urged Cerulean to follow the tracks through the upcoming fork in the trail. Slowly Garrett and Cerulean saw Cliff Shaker and Noah come into view, the blond astride his unicorn.
