Jack rings the doorbell and fixes his hair one last time. He dusts off his pants as he holds the dessert Sydney helped him make.
Zach opens the door and steps to the side to allow him in. "Hey." He had a cute little pink apron over his clothes.
"Hey." Jack smiles. He looks at the box in his hands. "I brought dessert." He hands him it.
Zach takes the box. "Oh, you didn't have to. I made slutty brownies for you."
Jack grins widely as he enters. Zach leads him to the kitchen, where the table was already set for them.
He sets Jack's dessert on the counter and checks the oven. "Oh, sit down, it's ready."
The curly head complies as he awaits patiently for Zach to safely remove their dinner from the oven. He sets a casserole in front of Jack. His eyes widen. It's his favourite food.
"It's lasagna."
"Nice observation skills, Jack." He mocks him as he serves him.
"It's my favourite." He admits quietly.
"It's about to become more than your favourite." He chuckles as he serves himself.
"Did my sisters tell you?" He questions with squinted eyes.
"They didn't. Cross my heart." He does the gesture.
Jack takes a bite out of the lasagna. Zach looks at him expectantly.
"It's not fair." Jack looks down.
"What?"
Jack looks at him. "This is genuinely the best lasagna I've ever had. And I've been to Italy." He tears up. "Fuck, it's so good, but it's so hot."
Zach smiles widely. He playfully scoffs. "Told you so." He blows on his food and eats it.
Jack repeats the lasagna, bearing in mind that he still has to eat the slutty brownies.
"You can take some home, if you want to. I don't want you to starve." He jokes.
Jack smiles. "I feel like I'd die happy if this was my last meal."
"Wow, dramatic." Zach rolls his eyes as he grabs their plates.
Jack grabs him by the wrist. "Sit down, I'll take care of it."
Zach falters a bit. "No, you're a guest. I-"
"You did the same at my place. It's only fair. Sit down." His voice is quiet, yet his tone leaves no room for discussion.
The brunet sits down, and Jack gets up to put everything in the dishwasher. Zach hesitantly gets up to remove his apron and clean the table. If there's one thing he can not stand, it's a dirty house.
Zach puts some dessert plates and cutlery on the table and grabs both desserts. Jack sits back down.
"How's your presentation coming along?"
"Almost done with it." He smiles. "The only downside is that I have to go to campus to present it." He sighs. "It's like an hour away."
Jack looks at him as he takes out a slice of brownie. "Do you want me to give you a ride?"
"Oh, no, I can drive." He chuckles. "I just don't like doing presentations in front of people." He tastes some of the dessert Jack brought. "I need this recipe, by the way."
Jack chuckles. "No can do. It's a family recipe."
Zach squints his eyes. "I don't believe you."
The curly heads. "I'm not telling you the recipe either way."
