Jack returns from the bathroom and sits by his side. Zach locks his phone and turns to him. "Hey there, birthday boy." He greets him. "Happy birthday, handsome." Zach kisses his cheek.

Gabriela gags. "Be right back." She rushes into the bathroom.

They're in the least romantic place, but Jack still can't help but think how he would still be here with him. "Hey there, pretty."

"What are you betting on? Two girls, two boys, one of each?"

"What are you betting on?"

"As long as they're healthy." He interlocks their fingers and rests his head on his shoulder.

"Gabriela González." The nurse calls.

"Oh, we should call her." Zach mumbles.

"Here." She comes out of the bathroom. "Carry my purse, please. I feel like shit." She stretches out her arm.

Jack takes the purse as Zach helps her walk into the appointment. Because there were only two chairs, Jack insisted on standing.

"Good morning, Miss González. How are you feeling?" The doctor smiles softly.

"Like shit. When does the morning sickness stop?"

"It should be stopping by now." She types into the computer. "I'm assuming one of them is the father."

"Neither of them are, but the idiot standing wants to take the blame for this." She points at her belly.

"Gabriela, perhaps you should be a bit nicer. The doctor is only looking out for you." Zach says quietly.

"I'm not going to pretend I want to be here, much less that I want to be pregnant." She scoffs.

"I'd like your name and personal information." The doctor turns to Jack.

"Jack Robert Avery. I was born July first of nineteen ninety nine -"

"Happy birthday, Mr. Avery." She smiles. "Would it be possible to have a word with you and your..." she looks at the ring around Zach's finger. "husband?" She pauses. "No, that's the wrong hand."

Jack chuckles. "We're boyfriends, but it's pretty much the same."

"Either is fine, really."  Zach reassures.
