"Alright, let's get started," the auctioneer said with a smooth, honeyed tone. He gestured towards Charlotte and began the bidding. "Now, we have the most exquisite item being put on the auction block. To start off, the bidding will begin at 1 million dollars!"
Immediately, several men raised their paddles, signaling their interest in Charlotte.
"1 million," said a man in the back in a low voice.
"We have 1 million, do I hear 1.5 million?" the auctioneer called out.
Charlotte watched in a trance-like state as the numbers kept rising, getting higher and higher.
"2 million! 2.5 million! 4 million!"
More paddles went up, and the bidding continued. Charlotte couldn't believe this was happening to her, she felt like a piece of meat being bargained over by strangers. The thought made her skin crawl.
The bidding was getting intense, and the numbers were climbing fast. The men in the room were going higher and higher, determined to buy the most expensive item on the block - Charlotte.
"7.5 million! 8 million! 10 million!"
People in the room were getting excited with the high numbers, some even cheering and shouting as the bid went up and up. Charlotte just stood there, frozen with fear and disbelief.
"10.8 million, 15 million, 20 million!" the auctioneer yelled out, the room erupting in murmurs and whispers as the bid amount reached unprecedented heights.
"25 million! 29 million! 30 million!"
Charlotte could hardly believe her ears now. Thirty million dollars? That was an astronomical amount of money, more than she could even fathom.
"30 million! Do I hear 30.5 million? No? Going once, going twice - " The auctioneer was abruptly cut off when a woman's voice rang out, "A hundred million in cash."
The crowd fell into a stunned silence as everyone turned their gaze towards the back of the room where the owner of the voice that had just offered an absurd amount of money was seated.
Charlotte's eyes widened as she recognized the bidder.
"Engfa?!"
Was that really Miss Grand Thailand 2022, Engfa Waraha, bidding for her?
Engfa sat calmly, her expression unreadable, as she raised her paddle repeating her bid, "100 million," she said coolly, her voice ringing out clear and confident.
"100 million dollars?!" the auctioneer repeated, his face going pale at the exorbitant bid.
The other bidders lowered their paddles, stunned into silence.
The auctioneer hesitantly called out, asking if anyone was willing to bid higher. But the room was silent, no one daring to step up and challenge Engfa's offer lest they incur the wrath of the woman who had just bid a hundred million dollars for a single person. Charlotte's head was spinning; she couldn't believe that Engfa was the one bidding for her. The air was thick with tension as everyone waited with bated breath to see what would happen next.
"Going once, going twice... sold!" the auctioneer called out, his voice shaky. "Sold to Miss Waraha at the back, for the astounding price of 100 million dollars!"
Charlotte's head was swimming with emotions as she tried to process what had just happened. Why did Engfa bid so much for her? Was she just being kind, or was there something more going on here?
The room fell silent once more as the word "sold" hung in the air. The other women were quickly led off stage, and Engfa stood up, walking towards Charlotte with a confident stride.
Charlotte watched Engfa approach, her mind still reeling with shock and confusion. Engfa stopped in front of her, her expression neutral as she studied Charlotte with a critical eye. After a moment, she spoke.
"Charlotte," Engfa said, her eyes locking onto Charlotte's. "Follow me."
Charlotte felt a shiver go down her spine as Engfa's words sunk in. She was now Engfa's property, bought and paid for with an obscene amount of money.
She nodded silently, her mind racing with a thousand questions. Why had Engfa bid for her? What did Engfa plan to do with her now? Charlotte had no idea, but one thing was certain: her life was about to change in ways she couldn't even begin to fathom.
