When Charlotte woke up the next day, she found herself lying on a soft, luxurious bed in a huge, ornate room. Her mind was still reeling from the events of the previous day, and she felt a sense of dread settling over her as she wondered what the day would bring.
Despite the comfortable surroundings, Charlotte felt a deep sense of unease. Engfa had left her in this room, and she had no idea what would happen when Engfa returned. Was Engfa angry with her for trying to escape? Would she punish her for it?
Charlotte spent the morning pacing nervously, her thoughts racing. She couldn't shake the feeling that Engfa would be angry with her when she returned. Every little noise in the house sent a jolt of panic through her, and she couldn't shake the feeling that Engfa was going to burst through the door and punish her at any moment.
Finally, after what felt like hours of restless anxiety, the door to the room slowly opened, and Engfa stepped inside.Charlotte's eyes widened with fear as Engfa walked into the room, her mind racing with thoughts of what might happen. She instinctively shrank back against the wall, her heart pounding in her chest. Engfa's expression was unreadable as she walked slowly towards Charlotte, her eyes never leaving her face. Finally, she stopped in front of her, close enough that Charlotte could feel her breath on her skin.
"Good morning," she said softly, her voice casual. "Did you sleep well?"
Charlotte was taken aback by the sudden change in Engfa's demeanor. After the events of the previous day, she had been expecting something much scarier. But Engfa seemed strangely calm, almost as if nothing had happened at all. Her casual question threw Charlotte off guard, and it took her a moment to find her voice.
"Y-yes," she said hesitantly. "I slept...fine."
Engfa's expression softened slightly, but her voice still held a note of stern authority. "Good," she said firmly. "I'm glad to hear it."
Charlotte felt a shiver go down her spine as Engfa spoke. It was as if Engfa had two different sides to her - one side was the friendly, casual side that she was currently presenting, and the other was the strict, authoritative side that she had shown during the auction.
"But," Engfa continued, her tone growing somewhat colder, "we need to talk about yesterday's...incident."
Charlotte felt a pang of fear in her chest. Here it was, the moment she had been dreading. Engfa was going to punish her for trying to escape.
Engfa must have seen the fear in Charlotte's eyes, because her expression softened slightly again. "I'm not going to hurt you," she said quietly, her voice taking on a more gentle tone. "But what you did yesterday was...extremely reckless."
Charlotte felt a wave of relief wash over her at Engfa's words. So she wasn't going to be punished. But Engfa was still going to lecture her, it seemed. Maybe the Engfa she knew before is still there.
Engfa continued, her tone becoming more authoritative again. "You could have been hurt," she said firmly. "Or worse. Running away like that was foolish and dangerous. Do you understand?"
Engfa's stern expression softened completely as Charlotte suddenly hugged her, her arms wrapping tightly around her. Engfa couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt at the sight - Charlotte looked so small and vulnerable, and Engfa couldn't help but remember the cheerful, carefree girl she had first met at the beauty contest.
"Not this again, Char," she muttered softly, her tone affectionate despite the scolding.
Engfa chuckled softly, her hands automatically wrapping around Charlotte's smaller frame. "Still doing that, hm?" she murmured, a hint of amusement in her voice. "You used to do that back in the contest, you know."
Charlotte's grip tightened around Engfa, her body pressing closer. "I couldn't help it," she mumbled, her voice muffled against Engfa's neck. "It always works, doesn't it?"
Engfa chuckled again, shaking her head in mock annoyance. "It's a cheap trick, you know," she said, her fingers gently tracing circles on Charlotte's back. "Using your cuteness to get out of trouble."
They stayed like that for a few minutes, relishing in each other's touch. However, Charlotte's grip loosened suddenly as she remembered their changed circumstances. It was true that things were different now. Engfa had bought her, effectively making her her property now. They weren't just two friends anymore, having a little argument. Engfa now held all the power, and Charlotte was essentially her prisoner.
Charlotte felt a pang of sadness at the realization, and she pulled away from Engfa's embrace slightly.
Engfa noticed the change in Charlotte's demeanor, and a look of guilt flashed across her face. She tried to pull Charlotte back towards her, but Charlotte resisted, keeping a small distance between them.
"Char," Engfa said softly. "What's wrong?"
Charlotte shook her head, her eyes downcast. "We're not the same as we were before," she whispered, her voice laced with sadness.
"I'm not just your friend anymore, Engfa. You bought me like I was a...a thing."
Engfa's expression darkened as Charlotte's words hit her. She couldn't deny the truth in what Charlotte said. Engfa had bought her, and even though she had tried to justify it in her mind, the reality of it was harsh.
"Char," Engfa said softly, her voice tinged with guilt. "I know things are different now, but that doesn't mean I don't care about you. I never wanted to hurt you."
Charlotte looked up at Engfa, her eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and disbelief. "But you did hurt me," she said softly. "You took away my freedom. You made me your...property. How is that not hurting me?"
Engfa sighed, her expression conflicted. She had known that this conversation would come eventually, but not this soon.
"I know," she said quietly. "I know I did. But I couldn't help it, Char. I wanted you too much. I had to have you, no matter the cost."
Engfa paused for a moment, collecting her thoughts. She knew she needed to choose her words carefully. Finally, she spoke again, her voice quiet but firm.
"Listen to me, Char," she said gently. "I don't normally participate in the bids, I was just attending out of formalities. However, I'm glad I attended. I'm so fucking happy I went 'cause if I hadn't, I wouldn't have seen you again. And when I saw you up on that stage, something in me...snapped."
Engfa sighed, "I don't regret buying you, Char. I never will." Engfa's eyes locked with Charlotte's, her gaze intense. "Because if I hadn't bought you, someone else would have. And the thought of that—of some disgusting old man taking you away from me... I can't bear it. I can't stand the thought of anyone else touching you and being with you. Just the thought of it makes me feel like I'm going mad. No one is supposed to have you except me. You're mine, Charlotte. You always have been, ever since the beauty contest."
Engfa took a deep breath, her expression earnest. "And I'm sorry if I made you feel like an object. That wasn't my intention. I just can't help acting like this when it comes to you, princess"
