Engfa and Faye made their way back home, their clothes and faces covered in dust and sweat. They had both suffered minor scratches during the fight, but nothing too serious.
Engfa's phone rang, pulling her out of her thoughts. She fished it out of her pocket and answered the call.
"This better be important," she said, her voice weary but authoritative.
On the other end of the line, one of her men spoke.
"Boss, I'm at the hospital. I have some news about Miss Charlotte's grandmother"
Engfa paused, feeling a flicker of curiosity.
"What is it?" she said, her tone more alert now.
"I'm disguised as a nurse," the man explained, "and I've been looking after her." There was a pause, and Engfa could hear the sounds of the hospital in the background.
"She's doing well," he spoke up again. "And she's been asking about her granddaughter."
Engfa's eyes widened. She knew how much Charlotte missed her grandmother. Engfa had been planning on doing something like this for a while now, but she hadn't gotten the chance until now. This was the perfect opportunity for her surprise.
"Keep taking care of her," Engfa told the man. "And get ready for something."
She could practically hear the puzzled expression of the man's face through the phone.
"What do you mean, Boss?" he asked.
Engfa continued speaking into the phone, her tone authoritative.
"Prepare for a video call later. I want everything set up.
Engfa gave her instructions to the man over the phone.
"I'll be calling you later," she said, her voice calm. "When I do, you need to have a video call ready."
Engfa's man was still confused on the other end of the line, but he knew better than to question his boss.
As Engfa hung up the phone, Faye casted a curious glance at her.
"What was that all about?" Faye asked, one eyebrow raised.
Engfa looked up from her phone, meeting Faye's gaze.
"None of your business," she replied, her tone brusque.
Faye rolled her eyes, used to Engfa's sharp tongue.
Engfa tried to play it cool, but internally she was excited, almost completely forgetting about the fight earlier.
Engfa knew how much Charlotte missed her grandmother, and she knew this surprise would mean a lot to her. Seeing Charlotte's reaction to this surprise would be worth it, she thought, even if her stubbornness still caused problems.
Engfa couldn't help but secretly hope that letting Charlotte talk to her grandmother would help ease some of her defiant behavior.
Suddenly, the car came to a halt, jolting Engfa and Faye from their thoughts. They exchanged a glance, both of them immediately on high alert. There was a sudden tension in the car.
"What's going on?" Engfa asked, impatience creeping into her voice.
The driver spoke up, looking back at them through the mirror. "There seems to be some commotion in the house, Boss."
As soon as the driver spoke, Engfa's heart dropped. All her previous excitement faded away, replaced by a deep sense of worry. Charlotte's safety was all that mattered now.
"Drive faster," she snapped, her voice harsh and commanding.
The car sped up as the driver pressed the gas pedal. Engfa's mind was filled with thoughts of Charlotte, her worry for her safety consuming her.
"If anything has happened to her, I swear I'll-" Engfa growled under her breath.
Faye, sensing Engfa's tension, placed a calming hand on her shoulder. "Maybe it's nothing serious," she said cautiously.
Engfa shrugged off Faye's hand, not wanting to be reassured. "I won't calm down until I see her for myself," she snapped.
The seconds ticked by slowly as the car approached the house. Engfa clenched her fists, her fingers drumming an impatient rhythm on the leather seat.
Engfa's car came to a screeching halt in front of the house. Engfa and Faye leaped out of the car. There were six bodies lying on the ground. Two doctors from the mafia were tending to a few people who were coughing and gasping for breath.
Engfa rushed towards the house, shoving past the doctors who were tending to the injured. She didn't give herself a moment to process the bodies outside. Her mind was solely focused on one thing: finding Charlotte.
"Faye, take care of things out here," Engfa called back over her shoulder.
Faye watched as her sister stormed into the house, a grim expression on her face. She knew Engfa's worrying nature had taken over, and there was no stopping her when she was like this.
"Charlotte!" Engfa called out.
Her footsteps echoing through the quiet house. Engfa's heart was pounding in her chest as she hurriedly made her way through the familiar hallways and corridors, desperately searching for Charlotte.
Engfa's frantic search came to an abrupt halt as her eyes locked onto something.
She stared at the sight in front of her, her disbelief slowly turning into anger.
Meanwhile, outside the house, Faye had taken charge of the situation. She was barking orders, assigning tasks to the doctors and the other bodyguards.
"Get those men to the infirmary," she commanded. "And make sure they're attended to quickly."
Two of the doctors nodded and scurried off, helping the injured guards make their way to the infirmary.
"What the hell happened here?" Faye demanded, her voice stern.
The men who weren't injured began to explain.
After learning everything that went on while they were gone. Faye entered the house, looking for her sister.
Spotting her sister from a distance, Faye approached Engfa, who was standing still in front of the door to Charlotte's room. Engfa's back was turned, shoulders tense and knuckles white from her clenched fists.
"Engfa," she began, her tone gentle. "I know what happened. It was—"
"—Stella," Engfa hissed.
Faye's words caught in her throat as Engfa cut her off.
Engfa still had her back to Faye, gaze fixed on the writing on the room, her expression furious.
"I told you I've already gotten what's yours. So here's a lil' souvenir." Faye spoke aloud the message written on the wall.
Faye followed Engfa's gaze, her eyes widening as she saw a bra taped beside the message.
Engfa felt her blood boil as she stared at the bra taped to the wall. She was practically shaking with anger.
"I'll rip her apart."
Faye could practically feel the rage radiating off Engfa, her aura dark and dangerous.
The weight of the situation hung heavy between them, the implications of Stella's actions clear. Engfa's blood boiled at the thought of Charlotte in Stella's grasp.
