Engfa, her head pounding and her mouth dry, slowly opened her eyes, blinking against the sudden light streaming in through the curtains. Her head feels like it's being split in two, and it took her a moment to get her bearings.
Then she realized two things at once: Charlotte is sound asleep next to her, her petite hands wrapped around Engfa's waist, just like they did in the "old times". Secondly, she has zero recollection of what they did last night.
Engfa, still in a daze and feeling the effects of last night's alcohol, propped herself up on an elbow and just gazes at Char. It isn't the first time she has woken up like this with Char by her side.
The pounding in her head slowly subsided as she took in the sight of Char sleeping peacefully next to her. Her heart does a small flip as she watched Char's slow, steady breaths, her lips slightly open in a soft pout, her hands still wrapped around Engfa.
Engfa couldn't help but take in every detail - the way Char's hair is falling across her face, the way her slender frame fits perfectly against Engfa's body. The familiar scent of Char, that subtle mix of sweetness and something uniquely her, filled her nostrils.
She reached out, moving a strand of hair from Char's face, her fingers ghosting over Char's skin for a moment. It's such an intimate gesture, one that she has done countless times before.
Eventually, Char's eyelashes fluttered as she slowly woke up, her mind adjusting to being awake. She blinked, her eyes focusing on the unexpected sight of Engfa next to her.
For a moment, she's disoriented, her sleepy mind struggling to remember how Engfa ended up in her bed. Then she remembered the events of last night, the memory of Engfa's words and touch coming back to her in a rush.
She opened her mouth a fraction, but no sound came out, her breath catching in her throat. She continued staring into Engfa's eyes.
Engfa, her eyes on Char's, felt a shiver run down her spine. There's something in Char's expression - mixture of confusion, realization, and something else she can't pinpoint - that made her heart beat just a little bit faster.
Engfa lifted a hand, her fingers just touching Char's cheek in a light, almost unconscious gesture. Her thumb gently brushed against Char's lips, a silent 'good morning'.
Engfa, her voice still rough and groggy from sleep, greeted Char with a low, husky "Good morning", her eyes never leaving Char's face.
But Char, still in a daze and still processing the situation, blurted out suddenly, her words rushed and unexpected, "Nothing!... nothing happened between us last night... Don't even think otherwise"
