The following days...
Engfa stretched lazily, her eyes still half-closed with the remnants of sleep. A soft smile immediately appeared on her face as she felt Charlotte stirring slightly beside her.
She turned towards her fiancé, taking in the sight of Charlotte's peaceful expression. Engfa gently stroked Char's hair, admiring the soft tresses as they spilled over the pillow. The sunlight filtering through the curtains cast a warm glow upon them, making the moment feel even more intimate.
"Rise and shine, princess," she said, her voice a little hoarse from sleep. "You were quite a sight last night, you know. I was afraid you might be a bit... sore this morning. But maybe you're tougher than I thought.
Engfa chuckled, propping herself up on one elbow so she was looking down at Charlotte. "I just hope you're not too sore today. Or should I go ahead and buy a new wheelchair, or perhaps you're planning to make a habit of making me carry you around everywhere?"
Charlotte groaned, burying her face deeper into the pillow.
"You're never going to let me live this down, are you?" Char mumbled into the pillow, her voice muffled. "And no, I do not plan on making a habit of being carried everywhere, no matter how nice it was."
Engfa chuckled again, leaning in closer. "Oh no, princess. This is definitely a story I'm going to tell our grandchildren. The day I carried my darling fiancé home because she was too worn out to walk on her own. I might actually get one again, just incase."
Charlotte lifted her head, giving Engfa a half-hearted glare. "If you even think about getting me a new wheelchair again, I might just strangle you with the old one."
Engfa held up her hands in surrender, her expression still amused. "Welp, no more wheelchairs, I promise," she said, a laugh in her voice. "I'll admit it was rather cute seeing you all helpless and dependent on me, though."
She scooted closer to Charlotte, her fingers tracing a soft path along Char's arm. "But, seriously, are you doing okay this morning? No pain, no soreness?"
Charlotte softened at Engfa's concern.
"I'm fine," she reassured her, a hint of a smile on her face. "Just a bit... well, tired."
Engfa arched an eyebrow, her smirk returning. "Tired, huh?" she teased. "I'd say I did a pretty good job last night then."
Suddenly a growl echoed through the room, both looking at each other before laughing out loud.
"That hungry?" Engfa said in between laughs.
.
"Okay, handle her for now," Engfa ended the call with a deep sigh.
After a short call from Max, Engfa joined Charlotte in the kitchen. She moved around like a professional, efficiently mixing ingredients and flipping pancakes with ease, expertly chopping vegetables and tending to various pots and pans. It was clear that cooking was something she knew very well.
Charlotte, on the other hand, was attempting to make her contribution: an omelette. But it quickly became apparent that cooking was not one of her strong suits. She carefully cracked some eggs into a pan, added some cheese and spices, and began to cook. However, her omelette started to brown a bit too fast, and soon it was smoking slightly.
Engfa noticed the smoke coming from the pan and couldn't help but tease her fiancé. "Uh, princess, I think your omelette might be a bit overdone," she said, trying to hold back a laugh.
