"Oh my dear Heaven…"
The moment his words reached my ears, something stirred inside me. I shut my eyes tightly, turned my face away, forcing myself to break the eye contact that felt like gravity.
I pulled the bridle gently and turned my horse around, ready to leave this moment behind, when I saw Jimin riding toward us, full of energy.
He was coming fast, his laughter already in the air before he even stopped.
"Wow! That was a great competition!!" he said between breaths, excitement glowing on his face.
I couldn't help but smile. Then suddenly, without a word, Jungkook took off again. His horse shot forward like a wild flame—his laughter trailing behind him. He looked over his shoulder for just a second, challenging us with a fiery gaze.
That idiot…
Jimin looked at me with a mischievous glint and tilted his head toward Jungkook, silently saying, Let's go get him.
I chuckled, tightening my grip on the reins. "Alright then."
I kicked off, my horse surging forward in full gallop. The wind whipped through my hair as I chased after Jungkook, with Jimin following close behind.
And then jungkook stopped right at the center of the yard. With one strong pull on the reins, his horse reared up—its front legs slicing the air, mane catching the sunlight like black silk. His horse was jet back and the sun poured down on them both, casting a golden glow that made the scene feel like something out of a dream.
He looked... breathtaking. So effortlessly powerful. So untouchably distant.
I slowed down without even realizing it, just watching him with admiration. His silhouette against the light, the rhythm of his breathing as he gently patted his horse—it all felt like time was slowing down just for this moment.
Jimin rode up beside me, still catching his breath. "Wow Jungkook, that move was flawless."
Jungkook smiled, his eyes flickering toward Jimin before landing on me. I felt the weight of his gaze, but I quickly looked away, pretending to adjust my grip on the reins.
He smirked, like he saw right through me.
"I'm going back now. I've got some work to do." he said quietly, then turned his horse and began riding toward the shelter.
I didn't look back—but I could feel his absence the moment he was gone.
Jimin turned to me with a boyish grin.
"Shall we have a race?"
I giggled, letting the moment with Jungkook fade into the wind. "You're on."
Without another word, I kicked off. My horse burst forward like lightning, hooves pounding the earth. I heard Jimin laughing behind me, trying to catch up. The cool breeze kissed my face and the thrill of speed wrapped around me like freedom.
On the other hand. Jungkook's POV
I walked back into the house, each step slower than the last. The silence inside felt heavier than usual.
I headed straight to my room and shut the door behind me. The click of the lock echoed in the quiet.
I threw myself on the bed and closed my eyes. But the moment my eyelids shut, she appeared.
Bella.
The way her hair danced in the wind while she rode… the fire in her eyes when she challenged me… the way she looked away when our gazes locked too long.
I snapped my eyes open and sat upright with a sharp breath.
What the hell is happening to me?
I rubbed my face and took a few deep breaths to push the whirlwind out of my chest. But it didn't help. Her image was everywhere. Like she was stitched into the back of my eyelids.
