I followed Zel to her dorm room. The walls were lined with purple and she had one of those little flags from a kingdom that I'm pretty sure Auradon bombed. In another corner, she had a karaoke machine.

"So my hair's only been used to make people look younger," Zel said. "It usually wears off when they get older."

"So you're saying that I'll only stop looking like this if I get uglier?" I asked.

"Maybe," Zel said. She shrugged.

"Okay," I said. Then I left.

Today was Tennis Tuesday, which I only knew because of Carlos and Jay, so to avoid Jay, I decided to go to the farthest place from the tennis court. This was the enchanted lake on the other side of the school.

I saw that there were three girls there. One had black hair, one had orange hair, and one had red hair. The first girl was wearing a random blanket as a skirt, the second girl was wearing full winter gear, and the third girl had a tail.

When they noticed me, they all waved.

"Hi!" The orange-haired girl said. "My name's Krisandra. I'm the daughter of Anna. Most of my friends call me Sand. You're Mama G, right?"

I nodded.

"I'm Aria," the black-haired girl said. She pointed to the girl with the tail. "And that's my sister, Joana. We often get mixed up."

I did't understand how since they couldn't look more different, but I decided to just go with it rather than ask them.

"What brings you here?" Joana asked. She splashed her tail in the water. "Usually everyone lets us know if they're planning on coming down to the lake."

"I was just trying to run away from Ben," I said. "Also I don't want anyone else to see me in this ugly outfit."

"You should try jumping in the lake," Sand suggested. "It's magic, so it resists our powers."

Aria nodded. "It's the only water our mom lets us drink because the rest of it talks to her."

"Okay," I said hesitantly. I usually wouldn't do this, but I doubted anything could make this outfit worse, not even submerging myself in water.

I jumped in, and when I came out, my makeup was all gone and my hair was no longer straight. In fact, it seemed to be back to the proper length.

"Yay!" the girls cheered. But I didn't feel like celebrating just yet. I realized that I didn't want to date Ben, not even for control over Auradon for Mal.

"I need to talk to Mal," I said. I pulled myself out of the water and ran all the way back to the school.
