I didn't know for sure whether Ben would be in class, or if he was up away somewhere with Mal. I decided to just skip class to be safe. If Ben saw me, it'd ruin Mal's plan, and I couldn't risk that.

I hid in the woods to avoid people, and it was going well so far until some pink girl popped out of nowhere. But it wasn't just any pink girl, it was Audrey!

"Ew get away from me," I said. I threw a clump of dirt at her to try to get her to leave. She didn't react, even as a bug with many legs crawled up her arm. She plucked it off and put down.

"Ben doesn't know I'm here," she said. She sat next to me on the ground.

"Why are you even here?" I asked. "I thought you were scared of the VKs."

"That was before," she said. "Before Ben threw me in the dump."

"You deserved it," I expressed.

"Stop being mean," she expressed back. "We're on the same side. I want to get revenge on Ben."

"Why would I trust you?" I almost expressed but said instead. "You probably have less brain cells than Evie."

"Because Ben has even fewer brain cells," she said. "He's not going to realize that I'm trying to ruin his life."

She held out her hand. She wore expensive-looking white gloves, and when she caught me looking, she pulled them off. Her hand underneath was covered in small cuts. Her nails were broken, dirt and blood caked beneath the fingernails.

I took it.

"What's the plan?" I asked.

---

I smiled as I shook Mama G's hand. Convincing her had been easy. It'd been harder to get Evie to agree. But now, with both of them promising to keep my secret, the first step of my plan was coming together. The next step was Ben.
