As Christian and his brothers exited James' office, "What the hell are you doing here?" Briar was in the hallway with a small paper bag in his arms. Christian yelped and hid behind the others.
"Oh, Briar." James greeted the curly-haired boy.
"You know this crazy little." Jacob jabbed Roger to cut his sentence short.
"Crazy little what? Go on, finish your thoughts." Briar challenged them.
"You know each other?" James asked the young group.
"They met at your pack's fair yesterday." Charles explained to James.
"These are the outsiders that visited the fair and fought with you?" James told Briar.
"For the record, this little jealous psycho tackled and injured our brother." Roger defended his family.
"Who are you calling a jealous little psycho?"
Before a fight can ensue, James got in-between them. "Now. Now." James glanced at Briar. "Thank you for bringing me my lunch. Be sure to thank your mother for me."
Briar handed James the paper bag. "Sure thing, Uncle."
"Uncle?!" Christian squeaked out as the others gaped at Briar and James.
"How did your rotten ass get stuck in the same family tree as Bryan's?" Roger asked incredulously.
"Roger." Christian whispered from behind.
"What?" He asked Christian irritatedly. Then he noticed James. "Oh right. No offense to you and Bryan Mr. Thornefield."
"I hear comments similar to that from my pack more often than you think."
Jacob covered Roger's mouth with his hands from behind before Roger could put more of his two cents into the conversation. "Well, we better get going. Right guys?" John and Christian rushed to aid Jacob in dragging Roger out. "Thanks again James and Charles. We'll be in touch."
As they were leaving, "I better make myself invisible again before I lose sight of young Christian." Charles said before following them out.
"What was that all about?" Briar asked his uncle. "And how the hell do they know you and Bryan?"
"They are Bryan's brother-in-laws." James announced to him.
"You can't be serious."
"I'm dead serious." James spoke. "Their youngest sister is married to Bryan, which makes you cousins by marriage."
"I don't want to be remotely related to them." Briar hissed as an idea went through his mind. "Wait, if that's true. Then the law of the pack states that Sean can't pursue that little red mutt if we're related in any shape or form if he already had relations with me." He grew excited. "And Sean wouldn't dare go against our laws."
"Don't tell me Christian is the one that Sean's granny informed me about."
Briar's happy mood was cut short. "Depends, what did she tell you?"
"Something about you attacking and injuring another omega who happens to be a half breed due to Sean paying special attention to him."
"I couldn't help myself." Briar blurted out. "I can't stand seeing Sean with someone else, and I hurt him."
"From what Charles told me, his bite wound reopened when you two were wrestling with one another."
"You sure talk a lot to that wizard."
"I didn't share that information with him." James clarified. He shared that information with me."
"How?" Briar asked in shock.
"He's been following and keeping watch of young Christian due to a murderous blood drainer that's targeted him." He explained to him.
"A blood drainer?"
James nodded his head. "Sean saw him as well during his friend's bachelor party."
"Sean never mentioned that to me."
"Why would he? It doesn't concern you, and you never seem to care what goes on in his life."
"I do care." Briar snapped at him. "I've always cared, but." He drooped. "I don't know why I act the way I do. However, I've come to realize that I miss Sean. And I want him back, but I don't know how."
James crossed his arms and sighed. "I don't know if the pack knows yet, but Charles also told me that Sean is starting to second guess you being his mate."
Briar's eyes widened. "What?"
"I'm sorry Briar. Really I am."
Briar then squinted his eyes angrily. "Like hell I'm not his mate. Looks like he needs to be reminded of who his true mate is. But first." He's running off to where Christian and the others went.
"Don't cause bodily harm to young Christian!" James called out to his nephew. "I need him in one piece for when we catch the blood drainer!"
