When Christian came to, he found himself lying on a bed with fancy red bedding, a tall bedframe surrounding him with drapery hanging down. "Am I in heaven?" Christian mumbled before jumping when he noticed a spooky shadow staring at him. "I'll take that as a no."

The bedroom door opened and Graham entered. "I see you've awakened."

"What happened?"

"You lost too much blood, so I returned some of it to your body."

Christian looked at the tall lanky brunette. "You saved me?"

Graham stared at him stoically. "Don't get the wrong impression. I only did it so I could keep you here as long as I wish. Here." He tossed an orange bottle at him. "When I questioned a shopper at the store, she said it helps with fatigue and dizziness."

"You got me orange juice?"

"Be grateful that I was considerate enough to purchase this for you. Now drink it, and I shall have my shadow escort you to the dining room when dinner is being served."

"Wait, you made me dinner too?"

Graham growled at him. "Would you prefer that I starve you?"

"Dinner is fine."

"Be grateful then." Graham walked away as Christian puffed his cheeks out.

"Is he always like that?" He asked the shadow. "Oh, right. You can't answer me."

'Christian.' He heard John's voice emanating in the room.

"John?" He whispered, but saw no one else was in the room. "Oh no. I'm beginning to hallucinate."

Christian opened the orange juice and began chugging. 'Christian.' He heard John's voice again making him sputter. 'If you can hear me, don't speak back or you'll give me away. The vampire half of the family are able to use telepathy to communicate with others.'

'Cool. Can you hear me? John? Hello?' Christian tried reaching John with his mind.

'We are coming for you.' John's voice rang in his head. 'Remain calm until we reach you.'

Christian frowned. 'Reach me? I'm in some creepy looking mansion. Probably hidden in the middle of nowhere. How in the world are you guys going to find me? Oh, yeah. What about Charles? Can he use a crystal ball to track me?'

'Remain calm.' John's voice repeated before disappearing.

'Wait a minute. John? John?' Christian sulked when he got no answer back. "This sucks." The shadow looked at him. "You heard me." Christian told it before taking another sip of orange juice.

What seemed like an eternity, Christian heard the sound of a bell ringing. Graham's shadow made a hissing sound as it approached him. "You don't need to carry me wherever we're going. Just lead the way and I'll follow you." He yelped when the shadow wrapped around him and blackness consumed him for a moment before being seated down in a room with an elegant chandelier and candles dimming the space.

"Dinner is served." Graham was sitting on the end of the long dining table.

The shadow kept a firm grip on Christian, but pulled the lid to reveal what food is on the plate. "Oh God."

Graham cringed but glared at him. "Is there a problem?"

"There are snails on my plate."

"So?"

"Snails are gross." Graham's lips twitched upward as he took a small fork out, stabbed the soft part of the creature, and took a bite. "Ewe." Christian gagged out.
